    Project Lightweight, Trackday Clio 172

    That's a difficult question. 😁

    Project Lightweight, Trackday Clio 172

Behold, my DIY bump steer setup. :p Results were very interesting and pleasing. First measurement is without any shims at all, resulting in a bump steer of around 5 cm's. Then I thought, let's do the other extreme, and fit all 10 shims. This resulted in a bump steer of just 1 mm...

Graham's summer 172 cup track car

And that's exactly what my question was about.

    Clio VR6 turbo 4-motion

They don't have a true drag strip in Germany, so that will definately make a difference. Apparantely it's up to 800 hp's at the moment.

    Clio VR6 turbo 4-motion

I guess a standard 172 or something similar would look really slow next to this. 🤣🤣 According to this video, the Clio has over 750 hp. 😳😳

    Clio VR6 turbo 4-motion

    Anybody seen this thing before?

    Project Lightweight, Trackday Clio 172

So I had to get a new lower mount, luckily it was available. Modified it the same day that it arrived. And mounted shortly after. I also got a set of drawers from my mother, so I had to raise the lower board of my workbench, but this gave me also the opportunity to get the compressor and...

    K20 powered 172

Good posting @1985michael182. That's exactly what I am doing with my Clio. I've too gone balls deep with my Polo G40, and ended up selling everything as well. I try to keep the Clio driving as well, doing modifications step by step.

Brake Bleeding - ABS - RS Tuner

I always bleed the old fashion way, basically ignoring the ABS system, as I don't have CLIP or an RS tuner. But does this have any negative consequences, as in old brake fluid staying in the ABS unit?

Cut Away Front Seat Airbag wires. Car now wont turn over?

It's basically the same right? When you unplug, the plug is just a bundle of loose wires.

    Battery Mount for Powerlite PS-09

I've made a bracket for it, check my project thread. 😉

    K20 powered 172

The car looks really good. 👍🤩

    Roll cages - 4 or 6 point

Only 6 point in combination with a helmet. If you use the car on the street, mount a 4 point.

K20 clio 182 without chassis or subframe modification?

Got a link to their website or Facebook page?
  15. scullyg40

How is the 172 Cup so much lighter than a 182?

Strip it to the bare chassis, or don't bother. 40 kg's is not something you will notice, but 200 kg's will.

    172 Cup Turbo Conversion

It's not a Porsche 911 or an E30 M3, it's just a Clio. It will never be worth 20 grand, so just do what you want. And even if, you could always build it back to original spec.

    172 Road legal track car

That's how I do it. Works perfect, not a drop of voltage over the winter.

Graham's summer 172 cup track car

Plowing through the field. There's no doubt it's really fast, but what's your opinion about throttle dosage coming out of the corners compared to the ITB setup before?

My 182ff track car build (so far)

How's the handling of the Golf? As they say VR6 is understeer heaven. And do you have any more info about the car? As I can't see a 174 bhp Golf be a car to chase with a decent setup Clio. It must be pretty good developed.

    Project Lightweight, Trackday Clio 172

I did my first mock-up on the right hand side. First impression is that it's wider than before. I also need to ditch my inner arch liners. I also had a slight setback at the other side.

    172 Road legal track car

I've made a bracket for the original position, and I didn't have to do anything to the wires except maby another connector. Check my thread for pictures. (y)

    Clio with Rotrex super charger

I found this quote in an old thread, but it is exactly this that makes me think that a 200 hp NA Clio is better than a 230 hp turbo Clio (for track use that is).

    RS2 vs ITB's

So what's your opinion on this subject? Since you have experience with both? What kind of power did you make with both setups?

    Race battery's

No point in moving a battery that weighs less than a kg. :D

    Project Lightweight, Trackday Clio 172

All the modifications are pretty much done, just got one ABS sensor to fit. Then I can mount it all back, and see how much caster I can take, and tune the bumpsteer, then it's off to alignment and I should be good to go. 1st of April is my next trackday. Hoping for good weather and a noticable...

    Race battery's

I have the PS09, and it's been without issues. I do disconnect the battery after each trackday though.

MOT advice - arb bushes and front hoses

I replaced the steering rack for a DCI one, so no more bushes. I can't exactly remember anymore, but I think I lowered the subframe.

MOT advice - arb bushes and front hoses

I did it on axle stands in combination with replacing the steering house. Not a job I would do every weekend. :ROFLMAO:

    Project Lightweight, Trackday Clio 172

I received my new bearings, so I took the hubs with me to work, and pressed them in. And then you have 2 refurbed Laguna hubs. :) Next is mocking them up to determine the positions for the ABS sensors. After that, all the modifications are done, and I can start mounting everything back...
