Yay! Prices of trophys have gone up a bit now another one has gone!!! I jest.. gutted for you Rob, It was the most lovely example of what could be done with these little cars.
If this project was anything to go by, look forward to your next one. Onwards and upwards buddy.
Maguire's make a 2 piece kit with 2 pads and a sealant, worked perfectly on mine. I just taped around the head light to protect the paint work and used news paper over the bonnet because the cutting compound goes every where! then just a couple of layers of the sealant spray.
I've never done...
Get a LSD fitted.. best mod for these by far..it's the one thing that will make you quicker round track than any other mod bar bodies or turbo.
I know they are a little expensive but instead of exhaust/filter changes your almost there.
Sorry Rob didn't get a notification you had replied. The phase one has been spot on this year so far. It's off to the Surrey rolling road day this weeked to see how the engine is doing since a couple of changes. I'll see if I can get there on the 21st..I've never been round thruxton even thou...
How weird.. I thought yesterday I hadn't heard anything from your project for a while. Love the PMS shifter, it does make every change so much better . Shame you didn't get to EFI, must get there myself this winter.
I'll echo @Dr Jekyll.. Get some pics up :up:
I drove the 220 on the Renaultsport track day at Bedford the other week and all I can say is.. It's really quick in a straight line..gear changes are lightning quick and goes round corners almost as quick as my fully prepared AST'ed quaifed track car. If I had the monies I'd be getting one
Surely it would be easier to convert the RHD 182 to LHD, then just sell the 1.2 as standard?
I'm sure exhaust, head porting and cams would be breaking into 190's bhp
@GrahamS @TimR26 Is there not enough interest to get this summer rolling road on? I thought it would be interesting to see the differences in summer and winter graphs..if any
You can get sticky temperature labels, I've got some on top of my cylinder head and the water pipe from the engine to the radiator. I can't remember what the temps went up to on the last track day, I'll have a look when I get home..it was something like 100 degrees for the head and 95 for the water.
Ive just got to my hotel in Gainsborough, had a quick scout about for fuel and found a Tesco...thought YES! 99 momentum but No! Just 95. Anyone up here found some super unleaded ?
Cheers
Seems a shame to mod it..looks a lovely . If you are going to mod it, make it light,..sell the heavy seats...your have more money for mods :smilingimp:
Lol.. Best tell her :tonguewink: I only went with the rear coilovers because the race spec Clios used that set up, so there must be some benefit over a separate spring and damper. May have something to do with the spring over the wheel rather than in board.
I've gone with AST for track as at the time they were the only ones at a reasonable price with a rear coilover. They feel great on track and when the damping is on its softest setting they aren't bad on the roads either...very liveable with to and from track. If I was looking for another set...
