After seeing Skoda motorsports post last week with there new R5 evo i thought it would be a cool idea to copy their caliper temperature stickers so see what readings we’re getting.
No that’s fine. It’s the 2.75 and the smaller handheld that’s the issue. They’re ok until 2021 I think. But was pointless me servicing them at £40 a extinguisher then having to chage them anyway when the bigger RRS kit is under £200
I’ve bought a set of meg/197 brembos and need a set of bolts that mount the calliper to the hub.
I know the standard bolts fit but am I right in thinking the brackets come with longer bolts to mount them as the standard bolt isn’t it in a great deal
Test fitted the Brembos tonight.
The new et 38 speedlines fit with no spacers but loads of room with 5mm spacers.
Et40 set only just fit with 5mm spacers
Et38 cup racer don’t fit at all. Would need about 30mm spacer for them to fit ?.
So I either sell the callipers or sell 2 sets of...
The standard 172 cup lasted long. Sold on the weekend for a tidy bit of profit without advertising it for sale
And I’ve gone down the brembo route off @GrahamS.

Hahaha yeah a few people have said. That’s two events now still with the stickers on. Heard they blew the engine up. Was a new build engine in that too

Thanks for your input. It’s definitely something I want to try as I’m not happy with the brakes at the minute. Even with 2 new calipers the breaking has completely changed. Not sure if the pads I’m using have changed the compound slightly but they’re getting far to hot. Even put in a brand new...

Proms going to be a good one. Jackson and the both Robs will be doing it too. I’m meant to be doing the closed road in Aberystwyth but if there’s going to be a load of clios the prom i might change my mind ?
But then some of these muppets in the rally world who reckon I’ve got 240bhp in it will definitely not believe me when I say the engine is standard with a nice shiney cam cover. I’ll keep that for when I do eventually build a proper engine for it.
Not much of an update this week. Got the cup in the unit.
The paint work is booked in for a tidy up next week. It has had a bad spray before down one side and the lacquer has faded.
But if anyone want a cheap cup I might let is go already. The units not big enough for all the cars and spares...
That’s the plan. This one is untouched apart from some stickers. Runs and drives great and weirdly feels quicker than my rally car. Plan is to mint it up and keep hold of it.

Cheers mate. This year hasn’t been to bad fixing it. Gearbox is holding up well now.
And the sprinter is mega. Pulls the trailers really well. Get around 25mpg going to and from events with the van full of spares, but it’s a long old thing with the trailer on.
Handbrake is unreal on it now with the whole new rear set up.
But yeah takes to the landings fine. Obviously track suspension would be useless. The B14’s are ok. In an ideal world I’d have Reiger or proflex like my brothers. No such thing as a harsh landing with them

Quick little update after Dixies Challenge at Epynt yesterday
It was my first time on proper pace notes and first time there.

Most of the supposed 2.0 Vauxhall’s in many of the quick escorts aren’t 2.0 and I’ve never heard of anyone getting checked.
And in terms of tuning the 1.4. Yeah 120bhp is possible. And yes some micras have that, but the micra is a hell of a lot lighter than a Clio. And then there’s the 190bhp...
I want to progress into just doing closed road stuff and the odd single venue. Epynt is like getting dropped in at the deep end. I’ll be pushing. But nothing like I’ve been doing on the circuit stuff.
Took the car off the trailer to wash it and get it ready for the next event in a couple of weeks time.
