Just outside of Diggle in Saddleworth. It's all nice round there tbh, wanting to move there in the next few years all being well. Rather pricey though...
Ah I've found where it is - between the left cat and the Y pipe. For whatever reason they decided to make the majority of the exhaust out...
Think you need to remove all 4 boxes (lol!), then they sound pretty good.
I'd be happy with anything other than the blowy s**t I've got at the moment though. It's annoying because it was so quiet to start with... Must've had a shed load of exhaust paste that's just fallen off after after...
It's different for sure. Main reason for buying one over stuff like old jags, jeeps etc is that you see loads and loads on 2/300k miles. There's even one in America approaching 1,000,000 miles. So perhaps not as cool but they're built like tanks!
And I s**t you not, the noise inside the cabin is...
No idea! Was supposedly originally meant to be a race engine, and so it's built to a crazy high standard, just makes naff all power - compression ratio is pretty low so they like boost.
I'm thinking it'll find its way into my MX5. That'd be spot on power wise.
That's a shame! I've only seen one on the road since I got this, and it was a proper shed. Going to try my best to just leave it alone and keep it tidy tbh!
Afternoon CS. Some of you may have been following my MX5 thread, and have read about what's gone on - recently my engine has started to burn a shed load of oil and I've been getting a little tired of doing long motorway journeys all cramped with my ears bleeding. So I decided to buy a new car...
That one was a 1jz turbo out of an old supra/soarer so a straight 6 - couldn't believe it fitted being so long!
These V8's look OEM in an MX5!
250hp/260tq would be more than enough!
Well, the MX5 has been getting more unhappy by the day. Engine sounds like a sack of s**t and it's drinking oil like it's going out of fashion.
I've toyed with breaking it, but I just can't do it! Too much time, effort and money has been put in to give up now. Unfortunately, I don't have the...
I'm pretty sure that was reasonably early on in the day - the MK4 was leaving me for dead later on, especially in a straight line!
Also went for a few passenger laps and it was fantastic for a fairly standard car - comedy 70's style pitching and leaning is kind of hilarious! Seems like you can...
Fair! I don't think I'd feel too good about taking it past 8k, mine doesn't feel too happy above 7. Although that might be down to the fact that it's fubar.. And idling is overrated IMO
There's a company called Blink Motorsport who do MX5 heads, supposedly can get 160bhp out of a mk1 1.8 without using ITB's. But that's a £1200 kit!
Yeah they're built for boost aren't they really. Low compression ratios make them useless at NA stuff, but I'm reluctant to throw a turbo on as NA...
If I had the space, time, know how and money I'd be throwing a Lexus V8 at it. But unfortunately I've none of those things at the moment!
I did have a look at a MK2.5 engine but there's so much extra hassle that goes with it for essentially an extra 5/10hp. So I think Steve's got the right...
True as that is, the bodies won't quite fit on the mk2 head - the inlet is angled down more than the MK1. So I'd need to get another inlet made up, not the end of the world, but adds to cost.
I'll sort something anyway - engines are cheap as chips for these things!
Well, bit of a mixed bag at Oulton on Friday. The day got off to a bad start when I lost my new microphone, it'll be on a road somewhere in Oldham if anyone wants to go look.
Anyway, the weather was quite kind to us really; rain held off right until 3:30pm when the place became flooded and they...
I wouldn't be surprised! Flipping useless!
Olympus ME-51s. Buy from Amazon for £30. I had a windscreen on it too to stop wind noise - looked like a hairy pair of balls lol!
Got to use a GoPro cable unfortunately, depends whether you have it plugged in on charge constantly like I do, or use the...
