For gearstick surround.. Just pull the ashtray out then pull the cup holder out, don't forget to unplug wiring from cigarette lighter, lift up gear stick gaiter as from what I remember there's a big white clip underneath it which secures the surround to the floor... Then just pull the surround...
Personal preference on style... I've got Turinis but love the look of 2118s, I'm just too tight to buy some.
Performance wise.. I'd stick with the 2118. The 2118s will be slightly heavier than Turinis but with the 2118 being a Motorsport wheel its a lot stronger and won't get damaged/buckle as...
No there different pal.. I don't have a picture to show the difference but the cup wishbones have increased castor. Just had my MOT and it had an advisory for bottom ball joint. I've searched through Renaults parts website and I can't find cup wishbones only standard so I'm guessing they've...
Traction control just limits wheel spin during acceleration.. This is what you turned off.
ESP is another safety feature which uses traction control and ABS.. If the car thinks it's experiencing a skid or slide and it knows this due to various sensors and steering angle input ESP will start to...
Saturday's/Today's Job was...
Strip Interior(ish).. Still got headlining, front door cards and dash fitted
Remove all tar/sound deadening
Fit Sabelt 'RenaultSport' steering wheel
Fit Corbeau Club Sport seats with VBD X-Low subframes (No runners/fixed into position)
Still got a few more...
Same seats and subframes as I've bought... Although mine aren't fitted yet and currently sitting in the garage. I'm off to Croft this weekend so won't have time to fit them but next weekend they should be in. Looking at your pictures I can't believe how much tar (or whatever it's called) there...
I'll more than likely tag along, just about to buy my ticket.. Going to M180 is a bit out my way as I usually go back roads through tickhill, bawtry, Gainsborough that way but I don't mind:up:
Can be done with subframe in place but I'd do it while subframes off if you can pal.. When I did mine I dropped the subframe a bit just to make life easier. While your buying a gasket I'd buy a handful of spare bolts too just incase.
Nothing wrong with Helicoils if used correctly.. I'm an engineer in the Rail industry and there more than acceptable and are used frequently. Helicoils, keenserts and time serts all achieve the same goal... Upto you how you repair it and what you use but as Steve.M says TimeSerts from Wurth are...
You'll probably find that the problem isn't down to using incorrect bolt types but the threads have been stripped from over tightening/torquing... due to them being a fine thread there easily damaged.
Off top of my head I can't remember what size bolts/thread pitch they are but I'd run a tap...
Yes I had them refurbished/powder coated so I'm not sure what the exact colour is but they do look good although they'll be for sale soon once I get some Pro Race 1.2s.
Thanks pal... As gash as it looks I kind of like it:tearsofjoy:
Thanks.
I don't know why some people complain about awful vibrations, I barely even notice anything now... When all the mounts were brand new there was quite a bit as expected but now there a few months old theres hardly any, passengers don't even mention anything so can't be that bad?
Thanks...
@Tr3vordm I've just bought two.. £130 plus postage.
Your probably best off sending him a message through here.. http://www.cliosport.net/threads/vbd-x-low-seat-subframes.774719/ Or PM him @JON FOZ
Unfortunately at the time I didn't do my research.. School boy error! I've never owned anything other Fords and I knew absolutely nothing about Renaults and the market values. It was a spur of the moment thing which I can remember well... Weatherspoons Saturday night, pub talk, cars, track days...
Thought I'd share my progress and few pictures of my Clio so far and yes I do give my cars names.. This being a Black Gold I thought Ebony suited her well:smile:
Bought the car in July last year and it was advertised for £3,450, top money considering it was due belts and dephaser pulley. I...
Daily.... 16s:up:
Main advantage to switching to 15s is for cheaper tyres for track days but being a daily I doubt you'll be going through sets of tyres like no tomorrow so it'll not be a massive benefit to you.
15s (i.e Speedline 2118s) can/do look amazing on daily Clios but to pull them off...
Looking at buying a RARB... Probably a Whiteline as I can get one cheaper than a PMS one.
I've read lots of good reviews about them but I'm still a little unsure on how the work? From what I gather they reduce understeer.. That's all well and good but the Clio only has Cup dampers and Cooksport...
Look bang on them.
I'm about to attack my wheels with a rattle can, since yours look so good any chance you could give some pointers?... Prepped them already with 250 and then 400 wet and dry, got tac cloths, thinners, etch primer etc.. Just unsure on drying times (I know it can vary depending...
Not used either but from what I've read there's little between them... If your using the standard inlet go for 438s. 438s are smoother on idle too. 421s might give a little more top end.
Someone who's used them might be able to give a better answer.
Edit.. Just seen your fitting an SM inlet...
My dad's 56 Pontiac.. Not the most desirable car for most people but he loves anything from 50s America. Big V8, spongy brakes, soft suspension and cross ply tyres.. Yep I'm too scared to drive it
So much hate for Honda/JDM... I personally think the FK2 looks epic, even the 18 year EK9 still looks amazing. I'd swap my French tin can without hesitation for anything wearing a type R badge.
Ok thanks pal. These seats aren't going to get delivered until June as I'm on the waiting list for the next batch to be made.
The VBD subframes, are the a straight forward fit? Any modifications/drilling required? How much and are they readily available or is there a waiting list?
