Mines a 182 so my water temp gauge is different to your phase 1.
With oil temp... Normal town driving is usually around 80 degrees, then with a constant cruising speed of around 80mph the temperature will increase to 85 to 90 degrees Celsius... On track I've never seen it go above 112 degrees.
Why risk it?
£30 for new 5W40 elf (or similar) oil or £500 potential repair bill for new engine.
If it was getting abuse on track then I'd say yes but with just motorway I'd say use the manufacturers recommended grade... My opinion anyway pal:up:
Haha 100% agree with this... Everyone's taste is different but I hate tow straps/bars etc on road cars.
Turn up to track, put on tow strap/bar.. Once finished on track remove tow strap and drive home.. Easy:up:
Had an absolute epic day today.. Thanks for all the advise. Met some great people too, they gave me a lot of advise along with passenger rides that helped me out a lot.
Brakes held up perfectly couldn't fault them and the tyres were brilliant too.. No need for improvement there.
Only things...
Thanks for the advice so far... I'll definitely take that onboard that knuckles said.
15mpg.. Hopefully there's a Shell garage near by then as even though the cars standard I only fill up with V-Power and I'll brim it before I start like Dan says.
What sort of tyre pressures should I be...
As far as I'm aware.. I just booked through Javelin.
Haha... Hoping no to be too much of a hindrance on track with it being my first time in a car, probably best thing I could do is get the instructor on the day for £20.
Not a bad idea that with a pop up tent.. Just one problem, I haven't got one lol
Yeah it's standard cup suspension. The cars just had belts, dephaser and waterpump done at a specialist which is on this forum, also got them to give the car a once over at all suspension components, engine mounts...
I was thinking about taking a jack but with there being no garages there I've decided against it. I'm guessing it would be a useful thing to have.. If I do need one hopefully there's some good lads there who will borrow me one.
Just booked on my first track day at Blyton.. Open pit lane on Wednesday 30th. I'm hoping it'll be a little quieter with it being midweek, didn't fancy a busy weekend with it being my first time. Anyone else planning on going?
Any advice to get me and the car through the day in one piece?
I've...
I've just bought a Milltek cat back for my 182 but before I get it fitted I'd like to have the cat mod done. Any recommendations on where to go for this doing plus fitting my Milltek anywhere around Yorkshire or the Midlands? I was going to go to Fred at BTM but I'm pretty sure he's packed in...
When I first bought my 182 it felt just like how your describing yours... Underpowered and sluggish.
It was on 70,000 miles and with it being 10 years old I had no record of the cambelt being change plus the dephaser was rattling too so took it to a Renault specialist (DDC Doncaster) for belts...
Did you remove the throttle body when doing the compression test?
I'm guessing from your readings you didn't. Redo test with it either held to WOT but if you've got a 182 with in being electronic, remove it.
So finally had some time today to fit my gauge... Thanks @M.C.. , @rich83 and @dablk for help and advice/pictures!
(Ignore the top picture with flashing warning light as Ignition was on but car wasn't started)
Next question is what do I set my parameters too? From what I gather the gauge...
Just noticed this the other night when I went out for a drive. When I press the accelerator pedal it'll go down pretty much all the way to the floor but not completely but then if I apply more pressure the pedal seems to click and travel a little further until it's resting on the little rubber...
Just had a brief read through this... Properly jealous!
Looks a million times better with the OEM spoiler on too:up:
I keep looking a DC5s... Kind of a affordable dream car for me.
What's the benefit of doing that @Borstii ?
Looks like quite a bit of work/welding is needed for it to fit right with the 182 exhaust.
I'm going to stick with the standard cat after what NorthloopCup has said since it is pretty much a 200 cell sport cat. What's this about the standard cat...
I'm buying a Milltek cat back for my 182 and was also considering changing the standard cat to a Milltek sport cat until I read something along the lines of...
To improve on the power of the 172 Renault redesigned a 4-2-1 Manifold and fit a 200 cell cat to the 182. Is this true?
£300+ is a lot...
Yes your right... The duratecs are more torque focused lower down which I'm missing and in N/A form it had 170ft/lb (Not ITBs either). In the Clio the power above 5000rpm is more than satisfactory for a small light car... On a track it's great but day to day driving it just feels like it's...
Been doing some searching on the forum and sifting through loads of threads about RSTuner but I can't find what I'm looking for. All I've read about RSTuner is how good it is at curing the cold start issues and removing the lumpiness. This to me doesn't justify spending £200+ (I'll be keeping...
I've always been a massive fan of Milltek... With me owning Fords pretty much all my driving life there arguably one of the best systems when it comes to Fiestas and Focus' but what are they like on Clios sound wise? From my experience Millteks build quality is spot on.
Don't really know much...
@M.C.. Thanks for the pictures... Should help me come installation. I take it PFTE tape is a must?
I've ordered my parts (gauge, sandwich plate & extension thing for filter to screw onto) from Merlin Motorsport and they should be arriving Tuesday. Due to what Rich said I didn't buy a BSP...
I bought my Clio with a Powerflow oem cat back exhaust fitted... Far from brilliant so it needs replacing!
I can remember seeing a YouTube video with a Clio trophy from evo magazine and that had a RS192 system fitted. Thing that's drawing me to the RS192 is it's subtle noise increase. I don't...
Are there any alternatives to the standard 182 gear knob? I'm after a weighted one and I've seen a few people with ph1 knobs but there hard to get hold of.
Any recommendations?
