Sport Cat for 182?

  Teg
I'm buying a Milltek cat back for my 182 and was also considering changing the standard cat to a Milltek sport cat until I read something along the lines of...

To improve on the power of the 172 Renault redesigned a 4-2-1 Manifold and fit a 200 cell cat to the 182. Is this true?

£300+ is a lot for a Milltek sport cat if it isn't going to gain me any performance over the standard one so before I do buy one I'd like some opinions please... Stick with standard or buy a sport cat?

Thanks

You are correct mate. The oe 182 cat is indeed a 200 cell cat. The only way you'll improve over that is to run a 100 cell cat or no cat at all. Both will need a remap though to gain any benefits, but they will be minimal. For the cost vs gain I would leave it.

You could fit a 197/200 Main-Cat....

What's the benefit of doing that @Borstii ?

Looks like quite a bit of work/welding is needed for it to fit right with the 182 exhaust.

I'm going to stick with the standard cat after what NorthloopCup has said since it is pretty much a 200 cell sport cat. What's this about the standard cat having a 2" outlet though? I've read that people do a modification to open it upto 2.5" to match the rest of the aftermarket exhaust system. Does this make much difference?

This is into a piper which is easier as it uses the 6"shim so you dont have to actually mod the center, just the shim. the lad who did this for me could have sold me a sports cat. his exact words the cat on the 182 is a monster. agree/disagree as said its a lot easier to work with now.
