To be fair, with mine the sweet spot to change gear is 6,500RPM or higher, so that in the next gear the revs don't fall below 4,000RPM. Keeps the car really pushing on!
Although mines on full boost at 3,000RPM it's only at 4,000RPM that it really starts to shift.
How are you finding the car...
Depends mate. Can be at times, and on a Saturday night I suspect it won't exactly be quiet. Will probably have a few people in having some scran before they go and watch a flick at the Odeon.
6:30 sounds good pal. Gives us an hour to have some food then get to Clifton Retail Park.
Ordered some supplies ready for the spring detail:
Will be my first time trying Glaze, the rest are just restocking old products I've ran out of, but I find work really well!
Swift Hound. Foods fantastic there mate I'm more than happy with that!
If we are eating though might be worth meeting earlier, 6pm/6:30pm then not too far to Clifton Retail Park from there.
Paul - you must know Adam Bryer Jones then as he got Steve's F1's when he was putting his Cup back to standard before his big move to Oz!
Car is coming on great, very subtle but effective changes. Looking forward to meeting you and seeing the car at the end of the month!
Chris, would be great if you could all make it over for this FY Cruise. Be really decent to get a lot of Clio's together and get to know more local owners. Keep an eye on this thread too for updates...
Sounds like you're a cheap date Paul!
I'm easy to be honest mate. Ideally one with a decent sized car park (for photos of all the Clio's together) and serves decent food!
It's looking likely that I can make this. When us Clio lot meet up, do you fancy a pub to get some tea before heading to convoy location/Clifton Retail Park?
If only I wasn't so OCD mate, if only!
I suppose we could hide the dirty paint by popping the bonnet and taking photos of the boost pipes, but I bet they are covered in sand from the strong winds we've had the past few days! It could do with a once over tbh!
I wasn't aware of many Cliosport owners in Blackpool a few months back, seems to be catching on now! Photos sound good but my car barely gets washed in winter, plus I'm waiting for spring ready for a big decontaminate/detail. Also I need to sort that rough-looking Turini out and source two...
I'm scheduled to work but might try to book it off.
The last FY Cruise got jumped all over by the Police so my car wouldn't be going anywhere fast there haha. We'll need to sort a little Clio meet out.
@Paul.M I'm not really feeling Three Sisters trackday after what happened last time! £800 repair bill plus the hire car expenses! But a local meet then I'm game if not working!
For piece of mind it's best to get a specialist to do the belts.
Better the job being done correctly the first time around than having to pay for the same job twice.
They may be a fair bit away but building your own means once it's mapped and complete, should you encounter any issues then you are on your own to deal with it. I've had one major issue due to a faulty coilpack fitted for the conversion and it cost me NOTHING to get the car running again due to...
Andy (clioturbo) will not provide a full DIY turbo kit afaik. Too much hassle for him should things go horribly wrong due to poor installation/mapping.
Plus his management of choice is Adaptronic which requires some serious re-wiring!
That's strange I've never heard of xenon washers working but not the screen ones!
What garage do you use around here for minor work?
I'll keep an eye out for you, seen a couple of RB's recently too that I haven't seen before!
I feel your pain!
"How much have you spent on it already!?"
"Don't you think you've spent enough on it?"
"I can't believe you've put £9,000 into a £3,000 Clio!"
"You're never going to make back all the money you've spent on that!"
Bore off! It's fairly uncommon, thoroughly good fun and not...
Head back Newcastle way and take it to @Andyrg@ ClioTurbo
You're not far from me so if you want a passenger ride in a low boost 182 I'll be happy to oblige!
Also, turbo's seem to add to the value from what I've seen. You're never going to get back what you put into it, but it definitely adds a...
Great place for the clioturbo sticker eh!? Said to Andy I'd have put the sticker on my rear window but I just didn't want to advertise what was going on under the bonnet ;)
Bet you'll be glad to get it back George!
Do you mean the windscreen washers or xenon washers? Xenon washers is a common failure on them, I just blanked mine off and tucked the tubes away!
Car looks great buddy, saw an RB in St Annes earlier, reg ended 'XTO' I think and I thought it might have been yours. If you need any help or advice...
I was gonna potter down after work (as it's nearby) so glad I never now. Never checked on here beforehand to see if it was still on!
Next Sunday is better for me TBH but I might be late getting there, 8:30ish if I start winding the turbo up, 9pm if I behave myself!
Jake, well in on becoming an area rep! You should try to sort some NW meets a little closer to us, as most are usually in Cheshire which would cost me a fair bit in fuel as at 70/80mph my Clio's sat right in the turbo's sweet spot!
It's a shame the Illuminations are nearly over imo as...
Quick Detailer was made for quick washes from what I've read so I use it after the weekly wash to get the 'just waxed' look.
However I use AF Finale as the final stage after a full detail as it seems to make the metallic flake 'pop' more than the waxes I use do.
Yeah, they're fine. Just be warned that trader isn't actually based in the UK (when I bought mine he had his location as "London, UK" which I soon realised was BS ) so they will take a while to arrive.
Well, a few bits to update!
I took a drive to the shiny new Clioturbo HQ last Tuesday, unfortunately I hadn't washed the car so it was the dirtiest thing in the workshop! Andy set about sorting a few minor niggles, gave the car a good once over and an oil change.
Great news is the car is spot...
