Thanks man, Pure motorsport are currently out of stock for the modified 172 spec ones, and the originals are not available anywhere. So I'm refurbing a used set and would like the part number for the bushing itself
quick update, car is driving much better with the new properly fitted ball joints. Have got some knackered extra caster wishbones to refurb on the way too. Thanks all
Hi All,
Does anyone know the part number for the wishbone bushes (extra caster ones if that makes a difference)?
Also are all 4 bushes the same?
And any tips on getting them out?
Thanks!
What are the options for replacing now Renault discontinued one side? Getting a used set and replacing the bushes?
Do you know what the stock caster should be? From people posting alignment pics it looks like it should be about 2.5 degrees
I’ve ordered the M10 ball joints as these OE wishbones weirdly have M10 holes.
I like the solid section idea too, gonna access how much of a PITA it will be today 😂
So the play doesn’t happen at all when jacked up on both sides, I guess that would eliminate the wheel bearings because I would expect suspension stress not to matter. Will have a look at the top mounts today.
Okay so I investigated a bit more today.
Rolled down a big hill in neutral, no wheelbearingy type noises.
Jacked both sides of the car up, I can’t replicate the noise in the above vid at all, everything feels solid and there is no play or clunks at all. I think the clunk was just the top...
Wheel bearing.
That would make sense. I’ll jack both sides up at the weekend to double check and roll down some hills out of gear to have a listen, cheers. Thanks both
That’s great info, thanks, but I think it’s a bit beyond my capabilities to be honest. I might look into the column mod though.
Here is a video of the noise. On closer inspection I think it’s just the suspension strut rattling around in the top mount a bit when the car is jacked up on one...
Interesting, is the wind column a direct bolt in replacement, is it an easy job? I think I have seen some people on the forum just weld the original column up.
With the slight clunk at 12 and 6 I am also worried that there might be an actual problem rather than just the usual bit of sloppiness
Hi All,
Have been driving my Clio a little more recently. The steering has felt a little bit weird when going over rough and bumpy roads.
The track rod ends, inner rods and wishbones, Inner and outer ARB bushes, top mounts, and shocks were changed for Renault or OE a few years ago but less...
Awesome, thanks both of you. Will probably get some Nissens parts ordered and spend a day on it at some point.
Radiator, condenser and dryer needed right? Any fixings/seals?
Great thanks. Your build looks great by the way. Any reason you got a genuine radiator over the nissens one?
How was the job? I just did the steering rack bushes and I’m not ready for another PITA job 😂
Don’t think in far off that and my condenser looks much worse.
My GF is dailying it at the moment so can’t be doing with a break down. What do you reckon?
Okay cheers.
Googling that told me I actually had them the wrong way around, its the condenser (at the front right?) that is a bit crumbly and the radiator looks ok.
If it’s not leaking coolant or AC gas and the temps of both are fine is it worth doing anything about?
I guess it would be a...
Update:
The Nissan Pump has been fitted with no issues and is much quieter. There is no noticeable difference in steering weight/ feel either.
Thanks @Touring_Rob !
Ah right that makes sense. I agree with you there, I won't mind if the steering weight changes a little bit and would rather have the pump sorted for another 18 years. Is it something that can be adjusted? Would interested to see the pictures.
I've never tracked it and I don't plan on doing...
What does the pressure relief do? Just safely discharge the pressure if it gets to high to stop it exploding?
I won't be doing it myself, I'm taking it to Birchdown to get it done so they know there way around a 182 but I'm not sure about PAS. I imagine they will have a press and a crankshaft...
So I got a remanufactured ebay pump and the ‘Nissan’ one side by side and they look identical and the bolt holes have the same spacing.
The ebay one turned up with some sandy s**t all over it though, wtf is that?
Does anyone know if you need specialist tools to press on the flange for the...
How is this running now? I'm looking to replace my PAS pump with my next belt change and these are about £75 quid less than the 'genuine' remanufactured ones
Thanks!
I won't be doing it myself I'll be taking it to Birchdown. How did you fix the alignment? The sell one with the pulley already fitted for another £50 but I don't think that's really necessary is it?
Is it quiet? Mine currently sounds like a supercharger when cornering.
Hi Guys,
Just wondering if anyone has ever bought one of these refurbished PAS pumps from eBay?
Mine has been sounding like a supercharger for about 5 years now and as by belts are due I figured I should get it sorted at the same time. Birchdown have said that new genuine ones are no longer...
