I don't know why people bother hanging the post lambda in a bag tbh just unplug it and stick a lambda bung in. Its hit or miss wether you get the eml on or not, some clios throw it up some don't just the way it is, wether you hang it in a bag or unplug it makes no difference. I had mine...
To make one would be abit of a ball ache tbh inless you have a pipe bender. Guessing its gonna be your first decat swap on a 172? good luck, its great fun and not fiddly or frustrating in the slightest and access to the mani join is awesome lol :P
ps bring a friend its a 2 man job.
Also Maybe worth a mention, my mate is making noise about breaking his ax vts so high chance ill be having his race engine, Newman ph3 cams, wossner forged high comp pistons, c2 vts head port and polished to name a few of the mods. Cant remember everything hes done but its a list as long as your...
Interior pic of gti for anyone interested.
Slightly more refined and chilled out than the other 2 lol.
More nova p**n....(extremely dirty mind, but screw it this aint a show car lol)
With a few little mods they handle better than any car ive ever driven or even been in, my old one was absolutely immense. If you poly bush the lower engine mount and gearbox mount and put oem replacement for top engine mount and lower around 60mm on the front and 2 'clicks' on the torsion bar...
Not sure why the brakes have been changed to gti6 tbh if they were already uprated, all i know is it stops likes there's no tomorrow lol. I want some raptors for it but the gti6 brakes wont fit under so will have to see about that one.
I could be persuaded to let the cup go to a new home if someone wanted to save it. Bring some wheels coil pack and leads and she would drive away lol. Not really a tempting proposition for a potential buyer though lol so will most likely just get broken.
I find the issue with xe/let motors is finding the parts rather than price of them. I always try and buy any tasty spares i can that pops up ready for the imminent failure of vaux parts lol.
She's a bit rough round the edges atm but mechanically spot on, drives like a dream tbh. Will be getting a respray when my mate gets round to doing it for me. will probably start the prep after summer as she always comes off the road for wnter anyway so a perfect time really.
BINGO!
You will pay about the same or less for a full car than you would sourcing all parts individually, plus you will keep finding parts you need if you don't have the donor.
I wouldnt bother the golf engine idea tbh will be alot more trouble than a f4r swap. Basically your gonna need ecu, loom, engine, driveshafts, subframe and wishbones etc(if you want it to handle) and lots of other little bits. if i was you id buy a crashed 172 as a donar car and then you have...
Engine is actualy quite sweet for 140k. Tbh not a great deal wrong it just need some tlc and new leads and coil pack. Just going to break it for parts, keep the subframe wish bones, cup alternator setup etc etc so i can convert a ph1 to cup setup when i find a decent one.
Well after 5yrs, 90K+ miles and lots of of great memory's its time to retire her.
final resting place.....
As a replacement i fancied another gti as i absolutely loved my last one, they are great little nippy cars that handle extremely well. I wasn't to bothered about straight line...
Yoko Parada spec 2s. About 40 quid a corner in 50 profile and a pretty good tyre for the money tbh. Get a nice light set of 15s and you will notice a transformation of the handling. 15s with a Whiteline are the best 2 reasonably priced mods you can do to a 172.
Your bang on the money there! Gain your trust then hit you with a monster bill. I refuse to let anyone work on my cars except me and friends guess I'm lucky to have a few mechanic friends and alot of personal experience of working on my own cars for the last 12 years.
Engine stand is the correct name. I got a ebay jobby for about 40 quid years ago and has never let me down used it loads of times on different lumps. You don't have much to worry about with little 4 bangers they hardly weight anything.
15s with a 50 profile tyre will out handle 16s on a 45 on the clio. Obviously providing you use same make and brand tyres. Not to mention 15s look much better.
Renault will of known about the impending failures but just hoped most would clear the warranty period before they break. That way renault can continue to make money on the 197/200s with 3k gearbox repairs.
I would never buy a clio older than a 182. I mean don't get me wrong the 1*2 boxes are...
