Not been able to do much these past few weeks as I have been busy.
But I have got a nice set of coil overs and front wheel spacers from Dr Jekyll, need to get them fitted ASAP. In the process of buying a RARB and need to source some solid top mounts, so I dont have to take it all off for a...
Refitted the seats which was a pig of a job. Couldn't put my fresh flocked parts in as only the dash turned up. Been told they will be with me Tuesday.
Is it like the driver's side air bag - a few bolts/screws and then put a resistor in it?
And what have people put in its place? I am getting my top dash flocked (was picked up Thursday), but there will be a hole left there. What have people put in there to replace it?
Tempted with just a...
Got these wires which don't plug into anything. Not sure what they are, does anyone know? They were unplugged when the car was initially stripped. Which ones are recommended to remove and how would I do this?
1) Under passenger seat. Also the same on the driver's side
2) Same as 1 but driver's...
Few more things done this weekend.
Fitted my bonnet release lever, pained in red for that "race car" feel lol
Then my brother came over and we fitted the braided brake lines and brake fluid change
My brother does not mess around, the car was like this before I finished my cup of tea. The big...
Yeah looks like a good way of measuring up. I have no issues with the cutting and mounting, but my ability to mark them up correctly is where I may struggle!
Fitted braided brake hoses, full system flush of brake fluid and then fitted my canards.
Tomorrow is give the inside roof a second coat of paint and paint the seat rails black so I can then refit the seats and seat belts. Oh and sort out flocking the panels and trim that is being left in the car.
Yeah I don't want to do the Ph2 dash conversion. But as I don't have a stereo the control stalk is useless. And I am looking at getting the top dash and most of the interior left in it flocked, hence the Ph1 blanking plate just to make it smart and tidy the job up.
I have seen posts about a blanking plate for the Ph2 stereo stalk, but is there one for the Ph1?
If not, does a Ph2 steering wheel cowling fit a Ph1 with the Ph1 dash so I can then get a blank for it?
As said its really simple, and to add to @barnesautos comment about the grill, do not let it swing/drop one side while being conencted as it will brake the tab holding it in....I found out the hard way. It is like you need to remove the lamp unit before you can remove the grill, but the grill...
I have also used the same for the exterior on a previous track car, but that was put through a sprayer though. Did the car well and no-one ever noticed!! Hopwever I wouldn't be doing that again in a hurry
All painting done!
Few bits need a second coat, plus I need to do some parts black, like the piece surrounding the hand brake and the seat rails. I know it isn't a professional job as there are some rough edges, not all the tar stuff came off the roof. But the overall effect is good. Cables...
Managed to paint the roof and back quarter panels this afternoon, quite a lot done! Just need to do the floors, hopefully have enough time tomorrow as I need to take the wheels off and WD40 the brake lines to help free them up for the braided ones I'm fitting next week. Also need to mark up my...
Removing the residue from the sound deadening has to be the worst job on a car I have done in years. Never doing it again.
On the plus side it's nearly done and just stopping for lunch before I vacuum and wash the insides before I start to paint.
Still removing tar residue :neutral::pensive:
Although it's nearly time to vacuum and wash the insides before painting!! Hopefully this afternoon it will be started.
Never removing sound deadening again.
That picture has convinced me to do mine!! Another job for the winter then. The amount of times the front bumper is off I may have to fit a quick release for it!!
Shove it in the hole....that's what she said. Lol
It is as simple as that. The one I did on my steering wheel for the air bag I put a bit of heat shrink around the connection and resistor to keep it tidy and secure
If these is a sensor/component this would have resistance so you are effectively shorting it out if you solder the wires together. Could either cause an error or catch fire. The resistor mocks the load of the component you are removing.
I'm currently doing my interior, not much to post other than nothing inside it! But what I am going to do it:
* Paint it dark grey, little like pirmer grey but gloss
* Flocked dash, A-pillars and bits behind the mirrors, because race car! Might get the lower dash done if it annoys me being...
Is the battery all the way back?
Slotted straight in on my Ph1 with no issues....apart from putting a massive gash in my hand as I dragged it over a jubilee clip bit that acted like a knife blade.
The centre drain tube under the wiper scuttle is that? And Under seal as in that thick paint like stuff you put on chassis and that? And where does it block up?
Ok, I will do this.
I just hope the water in the sills havent caused damage.
I am hoping that now the car is covered it is less...
Found the source of the sloshing noise after heavy rain. The drivers sill was full of water. This is how much I removed
Where is is getting in? And is there a drain point for it as I think it could be blocked. This isn't linked to the blocked wiper scuttle drain issue I had a while back...
Some actual progress!!
First thing was to fit the new LED side light bulbs, thanks to my brother for these! I like them. Also fitted them in the interior lights too.
Then I set about stripping the car even more. Like so:
All the stuff on the drive
Then I set about removing the tar sound...
