easy job, should take 30 mins.
Take air feed pipe off, diconnect sensors,undo coil pack bolts, undo the plenum bolts that hold it on.
lift it off, change plugs, refit all parts.
Go 2nd hand on the de-phaser if you cant get it on warranty.
So far I have changed one clio de-phaser and 2 espace de-phasers, they dont fail that often but they sound horrid.
As to what the cause is its internal failure, and its a know fault as Renault have a tech note on it.
ECU wont be knacked, might be worth checking the wiring to the throttle body, other than that not much you can do.
Joys of fly by wire throttle, why didnt they just stick with cable!!
compression test it to rule out any compression problems.
check you have the cams set up correctly, its possible to set the cams wrong even with the tool.
cams are marked for inlet cam/exhaust cam, one has 2 rings wide apart, the other has 2 rings close together, or they have text markings.

use an local garage or specialist will save you a lot of cash and as long as genuine parts are used warranty will be ok as well.
Take dash top off, remove instrument panel, strip dowm and remove led.
Thats what I'm doing on mine have got more than one light on anyway.
Have engine management light, service light, esp light one and emission light so thats what i'm doing.
Same thing happened to Linningtons Renault in Portsmouth, closed down.
If anyone from the dealer you mention has the guts to do what I have done they will do well.
