    Oilways in the head for the 197 are different for the dephaser. You need to be careful as you get more advance with the 197 dephaser than the 172

    Gen90 is a ecu mate. I don’t know what would happen if you install the 197 file into the 172 ecu - if it’s even possible.

    I was (I think) the first person to install a 197 head on a 172 block and run the fully variable vvt that the 197/200 runs. I ran the 197 dephaser and solenoid along with a gen90. You need to change the aspect file in the gen90 to get it to run the full vvt, but that’s something you would need...

    Not if you want it to be constantly variable. All the 172 ecu can do is on/off.

    I’ve used the normal quick steel quite successfully on a truck hydraulic tank mate, and it didn’t leak. But there’s always a risk that it will fail.

    My BG182 Clio Revamp

    It’s the ph1 final drive that’s fitted in your box mate. The gear ratios from 1st through to 5th are the same on all the Rs boxes (089, 129, 130). The rpm drop works out around 250/300rpm when you’re in 5th on the motorway sitting at 70mph.
