when i clean them up, I send the pistons to be weight matched with the rest of the rotating assembly. Usually a few minutes with some 1200 grit and some scotchbrite is more than enough though
surface area of the piston crown doesn't really directly effect power.
softening the sharp edges is a worthwhile way to reduce detonation risk, det will always occur more easily on an edge, which is why you often see damaged squish zones on the head. The example above has gone a bit too far...
yeah agree with that, I know that bit of road fairly well (right near my sisters flat) and being in the right lane can be a challenge, then you realise you need to change lane and can't get across to where you want to be.
Ugg
pretty much exactly as you said, just crush it a bit at a time in the vice until you get the desired shape. I tacked it together then adjusted a few areas with a hammer and drift
pulled the head off the short lived hero engine. 8 bent valves......and a secret history revealed
looks like it's dropped a valve head and someone has fixed it, but left one piston that had a BIG dent in it. Would explain why it leaked so much from the rocker cover when it was in Adams ph1...
do you mean a ph1 mk2? and a ph2 mk2? if so they should be the same if they are both off cars with dual lambda sensors.
A mk1 is a completely different car, so this will not fit
my Desire and Sensation XE were both great on the factory software. They ruined the Sensation with the jump from 2.3.4 to 4.0.2 3G searching is what kills them, they don't seem able to just sleep if there's no signal.
no, this was definitely a very thrown together attempt, I do actually know what i'm looking at ;). It hadn't been done long by the look of new bits. Just to repeat again, they don't fail unless there is something very very wrong.
pmsl, why would I make it up? the nitrous one was Ben's white 197, it had overheating issues for months, took the head off on his request, to fit ARP studs, and it had very clearly breached the gasket and the blow had caused a minor errosion which made a light skim necessary. it was internally...
I've seen 3. one had nitrous and lifted the head, one was turbo'd and turned the block blue from getting so hot, and the other had under tightened headbolts
I could list a dozen brands and product that everyone on here gushes over that i've found to be utter guff. Wouldn't stop people gushing over them. Tyres aren't really any different
Whom - P6000s are dreadful, I don't know why they're still made. Seems like every car I buy has them on.
I've...
thats called personal taste, something that seems to elude the internet recently. Tyres and brakes are a very personal thing and just getting what everyone else does is a recipe for disappointment
you say that, but I'm sure you put up a picture of yours when you did it, and you'd got the tensioner set wrong. so it's extremely possible to get it wrong
