    Dephaser oil supply

if you want to run non-VVT, you need a non-VVT inlet cam. I've no idea why you'd want to do it though, it's so easy to control switching it at the right point, there's nothing but down-sides to removing it.

    Spacers on spacers

this. As long as they're centally located there will be no difference between 1x10mm or 2x5mm once they're on tight

    Speed Sensor

Had to restore Phils (P17TOO) ecu firmware after it had the wrong version put on for a pops and bangs map. Lost all cruise function etc

    Speed Sensor

I've seen speed sensor fault come up several times on cars with no gearbox sensor fitted. sometimes there's even the plug on the loom there but no hole in the gearbox. When this has happened there's been no symptoms, just a code. I believe it's Renault using up old looms and ECUs, basically just...

can fuel consumption indicate an engines condition

umm, it's all in that thread. Low mileage bottom end, and ported the crap head to be better than a standard 172 one. Should be doing cams in it soon too so potential for a good result

My housemates shed of an MX5 (Fully s**t content)

2 weeks ago I'd have said you were completely wrong, however I've had mine on coilovers for a little while now, and really got to stretch it's legs yesterday. SO much fun!!!

My housemates shed of an MX5 (Fully s**t content)

Done 2 mk2's in the last fortnight, and it's a prick to do WITH a ramp. Getting on for the worst suspension to work on that I've experienced

Big end bearing & Reground crank

I think that's going to be more down to not replacing oil pump after a big end failure. There's no good reason for a regrounbd crank not to work absolutely perfectly

can fuel consumption indicate an engines condition

175ish. I'll put it on the rollers at my place soon as Gus bought it when Lewis bought an ITB'd 182 recently.

    Spax quality issues

not going into the specifics too much, but he DEMANDED a refund before sending anything back for inspection, (err... no) then took 4-5 weeks before bothering to take them off the car. There was zero fault with the parts when they did come back anyway.

    Spax quality issues

nope, he got the same level of service, he just acted like an arse-hat from the start. Wouldn't ever deal with him again, rather stab myself in the eye

    Toastfrenzy's Tin Top, some say...........

I think I could work out a way to have a pit limiter on a switch. It's not a feature, but I have an idea of how to adapt one of the outputs

    Spax quality issues

I don't get preferential treatment at all, far from it! The fact they've had a redesign is down to people wanting to use the track kit on every day cars. I think the design engineer underestimated the demand so treated it as an occasional use part without as much refinement. That's also why...

    Spax quality issues

I've just sorted out a warranty job on rears. Logged the claim 7 days ago, hand delivered today and sorted in 1 hour. Very easy. I'd suggest next time you buy anything, buy from someone who provides the best service, not lowest internet price. Rears have now been redesigned to be more...

    Matching Inlets

Makes the most difference on a ph1 which has dreadful quality castings. maybe 5-6bhp. The rest of the time, you're really trying to improve the midrange

    Death of an engine

doesn't help having thin stems with friction welded heads, but worn valve guides can contribute by applying side load to the valve head, also bouncing off the rev limiter is a bad idea, IMO you're getting valve bounce, and then uncontrolled slamming shut.

    turbo conversion or throttle bodies

incorrect. Been there, done that. I always wanted to put a 225 engine in a 197, but everyone's doing it now, so trumpets it is

Some help and advice needed (itbs)

it's advanced software. If you've used map3000 (omex) before then you'll be familiar with a lot of how it works, but there's a hell of a lot more there if you look. Typical ignition mapping screen....
