I was reading on some websites about MOTs and as far as i could gather, you should still be insured, though in the event they write it off they wont give you list price as you cant garuntee its road worthy. Driving without an MOT shouldnt get you points/endorsements but i think you are liable...
You shouldnt use a boot brace as in the event of a crash it may buckle, therefore lossening the belts and potentially putting you throught the windscreen.
I think you can get a full throttle shift with rev limiter and launch control, with a shift light as a plug in extra. Theres a fair few RTOC members with them on GTTs. The rev limiter is just an ignition cut, and the launch control is just a simple push button switch. Im not sure how that works...
If you used styrofoam (you have to emulsion paint it or something as the fibreglass melts it) it should be fairly easy to get a good smooth finish if youre using it to actually make a mould, then use fibre glass in the mould. You should be able to get it from a timber merchants or buliding...
If you can find the stuff get some styrofoam i think it comes in 2100x1800mm sheets, easiest thing to use for fibreglass moulds, very quick easy to sand.
Brun if youre going to Costco in Liverpool, theyll fit em :D Cant remember if its free or not. Exaltos http://www.rtoc.org/boards/i/liplick.gif http://www.rtoc.org/boards/i/cartman.gif http://www.rtoc.org/boards/i/dgrin.gifhttp://www.rtoc.org/boards/i/agree.gif
Flux are nobheads simple as that. Theyll automatically renew your policy if you dont tell them you dont want to. Loads of people have had problems with claims and found them unhelpful, id only go to them as the last possible resort!
Maxiboy is getting/got one fitted, think its a gripper, theres been good reports about them. I thought quaife never did them though? Last i heard they reckoned about 1k but needed 10 people or something before theyd develop one.
Good man Brun, speaking the truth :) Lower car crime than Manchester, Birmingham, London, Cardiff, Bristol...I could go on. Its a bit unfair discriminating against an entire city though, every major city has its good/bad areas.
Quote an insurance company that dont cover Englands 2nd city...
I got a medium tint all round on mine, looks about as dark as the one above. They always look darker on the outside, like on the pic above if you look through the car from the side you are looking through 2 panes of tinted glass and the inside of the car is darker with the tints all round. but...
Youd need to use white needles from a ph2 i think not sure if its going to be light up very blue though. As i understand it the coloured film lights up itself, not a bulb shining through it, for the ext temp i think they use a coloured film to make the colour match.
Last time i saw power figures he got 190 ish BHP and i think that was at 18/19PSI? 190-230 is quite a big jump, I dont know if i missed something on RTOC or on here though.
Its quite an involved job, if youre going for big power out of it though, you may be better off with a BB 16v turbo conversion. If you arent going to do it yourself you are probably looking at 3k for the conversion; that should cover donor car, rebuild and basic mods.
If you want much over...
Depends on the engine and mods, and they arent built for top end but a decent example with choice mods should sh*t on a 172 0-60, 30-70 and 0-100. Remember 170bhp isnt that hard to get out of a 5 and they weigh at least 250kg less if not more so they are capable of a very good BHP/tonne.
HIC also do agreed values so if youre car is heavilly modded thats the only way youll get a decent pay out if its written off/damaged unless you can find someone wholl replace modded parts with modded after an accident. And i think HIC are usually good, but the problems lie with highway who...
