Hi, going to have lots of questions from me, good and bad; some retarded.
Anyway, on idle at the side of the road, there sounds to be a thumping here and there from the exhaust? It's not constant but it does happen regularly. Is this unspent fuel and is this normal? Just eliminating whether it...
Cool cool. Probably s**t driving, I've been up for a fair few hours.
Thanks, will try again soon. On another note, I did do it again afterwards on my own and got to 50 by the time I looked down.
I guess it was just me being a s**t driver! Need practice. Thanks dude! By the way, is there anyway to increase the sound of the shift beep? The engine sound is absolutely roaring over the sound of the beep so much so that I'm not really used to the sound of the engine reaching its max revs yet...
Hi Gents,
I'm confused. I thought these cars have around 185BHP or am I going about this the wrong way?
Pulling out of work earlier and my friend in his 1.4 Little Chevvy thing wanted a pull, the car was quarter heated at this point so I wasn't worried about cold racing, it was nearly there...
The actual box between the 1.2 and the 2.0l is the same. Even the filter size is the same (From what I can see from the top). However, the pipework is different.
Petrol seems to be half decent if you granny drive it. As soon as you press that pedal though it's soon gone. I can get 25MPG but that is combined with high revs and the occasional granny drive. It did actually reach 33MPG before I hit the dual ;)
I get around 30mpg around town between 1k-2k rpm which is granny driving but to be honest, the car pulls easy down low like that so I often find myself in 6th gear at 30MPH with little acceleration.
Finding it difficult to heel n toe with the shyte throttle response in this car. I've never seen anything like it. Would a panel filter help by any chance?
Just an update, I took the car from the garage and within 30 minutes I noticed the discs were warped. Renault are paying for it all - I've got the appointment Friday at 9:00.
Is this a common problem? I assumed that these cars would come with vented discs?
On the test drive, the brakes were absolute shyte. I actually overshot a roundabout three times and thought it was extremely dangerous. So much so, I didn't feel confident driving it. It was like being a learner driver and getting that excited-nervous feeling again. Employee mentioned it was...
Do this anyway, my foot rockets to the floor! I'll be sure to keep an eye out though.
Also do this. However, the test drive yielded a completely different clutch on the Gordini. In my TCE the clutch was about quarter of an inch from the top and was very weak before that. The Gordini was...
Hi guys,
Heard that things commonly go wrong with these cars. What tips can you give me that will prolong the life of parts such as the gearbox?
Should I take it to the Renault Garage if I need things done or are they a "Yeah we've done it" but actually haven't type of place?
Thanks.
Unfortunately I'll have the car tomorrow and I'm really hoping the black box doesn't come yet so I can give it some good punch. I'll have three months before I can give it welly.
I've done a little research, but I'm looking to see truthful figures.
My car is on 12,000 miles which I pick up tomorrow at 12:00.
How much BHP do these cars usually make? 185-195? Does my car need to be broken in more or should I just take it to a Dyno when I save a couple of quid? I know...
Yeah that's not bad at all. I drive urban so not many places to put your foot down anyway.
Serious question though, and I'll get some whack for this, I heard the RS's had 6 gears? The Gordini version doesn't have the standard gear knob as far as I know and when I was test driving it I only used...
I did take it to limiter, just before the beep and I felt it pull more and more as you went up the rev range. Beats a TCE where the higher you rev, the weaker it gets!
The employee was a proper lad, really nice guy, I know they work off commission but he was fairly honest with me and we had a...
I'll be saving for a Mortgage from now on and will need to save all the pennies I can. Also need to get my savings fund back up to where it was as I put a lump sum down today when I signed the documents. Modifications can wait, but I was hoping that small ones like a panel filter would be better...
Think of my age though, taken in to account that is excellent for a 20 year old. I smashed my first 1.2 Mark 2 up but it was settled and was not my fault.
On another note just as an example:
I'm 20 years of age, driving a 2.0l Gordini. You can imagine what insurance will be like. However, after much research, I managed to get the price down from £2,400 to...
Wait for it...
£1200.
How you ask? I have no-no claims, I've been in an accident and...
Yeah no problem, they told me down there too.
On another note, obviously I want to get the best out of this car so are there any cheap modifications I can do for it to just reach it's maximum potential apart from a panel filter?
I can't remember to be honest, I just assumed and you know the feeling when you fall in love with a car. I mentioned it handled really well on the roads better than my TCE with 90% of body roll gone and he said it was because it was a cup car.
I'll ask before I sign any documents and if it has...
