They will no doubt change at some point. Always a bit weird when a new camera comes out anyhow, they usually maintain a reasonably high price around release time, but then settle into the usual discounts on RRP after a little while.
Yup shame about the pics, but it was more of a break than a photography trip so not too bothered in that respect. Could probably edit some life into them but that sort of thing bores me to tears, so they are staying as they are.
Still ill, unfortunately. Back into hospital in two weeks...
Where did you get those prices from? Miles out, according to Nikon it actually looks like this with the recent price hikes (and the D5000 isn't officially being offered with the 18-105)...
D60 Body: £399.99
D60 + 18-55mm VR: £479.99
D5000 Body: £719.99
D5000 + 18-55mm VR: £799.99

Decided to hop over to Germany for Easter on the cheap to get away from it all for a little while, had a superb time, gorgeous weather and was surprised at how pretty much of it is (never been before), stayed in Koblenz and visited Berg Eltz and Cochem...all not too far from the 'Ring, incase...
Just how the sensor is designed, most can be extended down to 100 but the base level is nearly always 200. I'm guessing the reasons are far more technical than any of us could understand, but from everything I've read is not actually a problem.
They would need a very, very good reason to arrest you even if taking pictures of the Police, it’s incredibly unlikely.
Lots of fake blood in the G20 pics as well, talk about trying to provoke anger against the authorities.
I assume a fair number of people have this site book-marked, but if not, there have been some stunning updates lately...

Trying to be unbiased, but the Nikon kit lenses are generally regarded as being better than the Canon equivalents in magazine reviews etc, so if you are thinking of sticking to a fairly basic set up it's worth considering. Obviously if you plan to upgrade to new lens then it's a non issue...
Just seen this, loving the shots you've shared with us, look very clean and professional imo. Agree that the Cafe shot would look better with people but still perfectly good as it is. Top work.
Cheers for the tips, slowly getting there. I use the 'Vivid' default on my D90 which I think is the cause of my vibrant grass, will go back to 'Standard' next time out and work from there.
This is a completely untouched/uncropped/unedited image straight from the memory card...
and this was...
Advice taken on board, I went to Brands on Saturday. General consensus is that these are mostly now too vivid, and looking back I agree. However, these two look pretty well bang on to me on my home PC and work PC, thoughts?
Those are fairly conventional, but the slow shutter speed...
£900 second-hand (although I traded in two other lens that I also got second-hand, I made a profit on them so it cost me about £700 in the end)
RRP is £3000 so that's pretty good going, could never afford it now!
Nope, just share them on here and stick them on my site. Not really interested in going any further with it, enjoy it too much to want to try and make a money from it (if that makes sense!)
Cracking day at Brands yesterday, definitely worth the 300 mile round trip. Few piccies here from the Clio Cup, this first race of the season was surprisingly uneventful in terms of bodywork damage so this is probably the last and only time most of these cars will be seen in original form. Race...
First race event since early October for me (long illness has kept me away unfortunately) but the looooong day (6am - 8pm) and 5hrs of driving was well worthwhile, great weather, pretty decent grid sizes and a nice small crowd meant it was perfect to try and get back into the swing of this...
Live View (generally) uses contrast detection to focus, and therefore wouldn't be anywhere near fast enough for motorsport. Great for macro and still life work though, something I could happily live without but it's nice to have.
They let off some seriously big 'thing' on the hill today. Sat at work and all of a sudden the entire building/windows/desks etc started shaking. Lived under the Plain for 27 years and I've never felt anything like it in my life.
Superb, very I am Legend.
Did you look at that for inspiration? iirc they put quite a lot of work into finding out what an urban area would look like after years of being inhabited.
Amazing pics, that missile/RPG/whateverthehellitis shot is incredible.
Heard this going on all day (I live in Hilperton), quite a few jets flying over really low and could here the guns in the distance.
Maybe we've got confused...
They weren't taken at that size, that's just a reduced pic for use on the web, this is the original file from a 6MP DSLR, for comparison, here is an original shot from a 12MP DSLR (my D90)
Literally straight from the camera, so completely unedited and untouched.
I've been shooting motorsport for 3 seasons now, 2 with a DSLR. Love it, this year will be my trip to Silverstone for F1, just going on the Friday.
