Weather looks awesome and your pictures are superb mate, was thinking of you the other day as we just booked 6 days there in February next year, can't wait.
Amazing how limited the view is from the Empire State Building is in the Summer due to the haze (in all pics, not just yours), in the...

Here goes again. Vote will be open until it closes, hopefully Sunday-ish.
Please choose the number of the photograph you think is best and select it in the poll when it magically appears.

The D40 replaced the D50. The AF motor was removed purely as a cost reduction (which has continued with the D40X and D60), it seems to have worked because the D40 has helped Nikon catch Canon in DSLR sales.
I believe Nikon have a new 50mm 1.8 AF-S on the way, once that gap is plugged most...
Page 9...WOW!
Robin and Motorsport shots are out of this world. I need a better/higher-res body to get the most out of this I think. Still saving my ass off for a D300.
I can't see them being anything special, tbh. I had one of the sharpest zooms ever made (80-200 2.8 AF-S) so picture quality isn't going to improve massively, it's more a case of making life easier by substituting 2 lenses for 1 and having that extra bit of quality at an even longer focal length.
Wow, the second and third to last (the two landscapes) are stunning, the light looks absolutely brilliant.
My favourite, however, is the second photo. I really enjoy looking at low-fi / aged photos, it's something I would like to get into as a nice contradiction to the sharpness I'm always...
I didn't go to the DTM in the end, did loads of overtime instead. I was thinking about shooting style, I might find myself taking advantage of the sharpness at long-range a bit more, but I hope I'm still shooting at silly shutter speeds most of the time.
Arrived today...
Not as big as I was expecting to be honest, looks perfectly useable. Pretty darn heavy though, and that's from someone coming from a 80-200 2.8 AF-S. It's in better condition than I thought, though. Apart from it looking a bit used cosmetically it's perfect.
Where the hell were you stood?! I assume not in a public position, I would be there more often if I could get to that sort of position!
Absolutely love these anyway, panning technique seems spot on and it's great to see some pretty slow panning, the backgrounds look great.
Amazing, long shutter speed shots from the air always amaze me. I understand they use gyroscopic stabilizers or something to stop movement, but I can't get my head around it at all.
Depends completely on how close you are, how intense the fireworks are and what sort of photos you want. I've shot fireworks a few times and used completely different settings each time. The only constant has been to use the remote shutter to minimize camera movement.
These were taken from...
Lovely photos, nice and sharp and great colours.
I heard that the inside of Druids was shut, and also that a few other angles went missing for this weekend. Shame as they make life much easier for a tog at Brands.
Inside of Druids shut?! That's pretty mad, sure I saw loads of photos from there last year (they get some nice flames going as they go under the bridge), I also like the little spot you mention on the outside next to the bridge.
Pretty pleased I have to work tomorrow now, as I was going to...
Lovely, your best work in my opinion. Were these all from public positions, and which bits were fenced off that aren't normally?
Considering how small Brands is, I always struggle to figure out where you've taken your photos (apart from #2 and #3, my favourite angle), I love the snaking track...
15mm gap is about 5 small footsteps! I wouldn't worry about it, I've never noticed having large gaps in any of my kit, infact I now have a gap of 70mm (between 50 and 120) but I don't forsee any issues.
Given the choice between full coverage between say 15-300mm, or faster lens' with some...
Stunning, lighting is fantastic (you seem to have found more sun than me this summer!), the blur/bokeh on #3 is silky smooth.
Makes me want a fast standard lens!
I'm combining my Christmas and Birthday money for an upgrade to my D50, if I can't stretch to a D300 I can see myself quite happily getting a D90...it seems to have the same (or nearly the same) amazing 3" 640x480 screen as the D300, and the high ISO performance sounds like it's going to be...
Re: d90 video
Footage from the video function is stunning, check out the depth of field! Manual focus actually makes sense in that context as you would want absolute control if filming with a 50mm 1.8 or something.
I know this guy is hated and loved and equal measure, but his comments about the movie mode were interesting...

As I mentioned in the other thread, manaual focus isn't a negative in my opinion (having seen what limited footage is so far available), if...
I was thinking this, the 1000D price is completely bizarre considering it's apparently competing with the Nikon entry level cameras (the D40 alone has apparently sent Nikon sales skyrocketing). Nikon also seems to have shot ahead with high ISO performance (which has turned many Pros) and the...
