I know it's risky but I figured it would be fun to have a change, if I hate it I can use it for the rest of this season and make a nice sum back on it later on. I'm sure eventually I will own a 80-200 again, love it.
That's just a stock photo, but I think it does have the mottled effect like the 10-20 does as it's an EX lens.
http://www.mpbphotographic.co.uk/ for second-hand stuff, really honest with their evaluations and very very quick to deliver. I pretty much shop there exclusively!
Was worried about the size but I had a good look at Steve's (who I believe works with Nick, bumped into him as he was going to see him after quali) and it seemed manageable, and considering it's not costing me anything I couldn't turn down a £2k lens. It is a kg more than my 80-200 though so I...
I'm actually going to have less zoom for a while (currently get 420mm with my 300mm f4 and 1.4x TC), but when I save up for another 1.4x I should be well away.
Great stuff, I'm loving the grass in the infield between Folly/Avon Rise this year, looks really cool in photos with the clumps of dark bits.
Prebble Evo shot is my fave with the other Evo coming through in the background, very nice.
Steve: 'New' angle is just looking back up from Old Paddock, shoot from there quite a bit but finally realised if I led down you could shoot through the gate and have a perfect track level shot.
Henry: Don't seem to end up with very many decent Radical shots, usually shoot the more saloon...
Not something I've done nearly as often as I might have expected when I first bought my DSLR, but I've bought a lens (second-hand, of course)...
Sigma 120-300mm f/2.8 EX APO IF HSM, 2.6kg  This was firmly in 'dream' category when I got my DSLR nearly 2 years ago, but through some...
Pleased you like it :) Full res here if you want it...http://chrisharrison.smugmug.com/photos/358876540_vp8wD-O.jpg
Can't believe you were only a second or so a lap off the pace of that crazy Class B race today, great effort.
I could have led there all day, thought my photos might get a bit samey though! Was thrilled to find that angle, can't think of anywhere else at the circuits I've been to where you have a completely clear line of sight at track surface level.
Just when I think I'm getting a bit bored, along comes the always brilliant Aston Martin Owners Club and the events that sit with them...and then we have the best (and clean!) Saloon Car Race I have seen in a long long time. Then to top it off, I find a new angle at the end of the day that I've...
Stunning pics, you clearly...
a) Get to a lot of Rallys
b) Know where on each stage to expect some fireworks
c) Can capture a moment brilliantly (I freeze whenever I see a crash happening!)
I got about 20 reasonable pics in a whole day, nightmare.
Not even great for spectators really, BTCC pulled out of Silverstone last year but the sponsors forced them back for 2008 (I guess racing at the same place as F1 offers kudos for even the most uninterested clients), for national/club...
It's truely awful for photos, and I'm going from experience on a day when there were hardly any people there, when it's busy it must be even worse. BTCC runs on the National Circuit, so you have two options really...
Luffield - A few things you can try on the terrace, stand back and you can...
Yep, all of the shots on this page apart from the dragonfly ones were taken with the kit lens and close-up filter...

Just zoom to 55mm, select manual focus and off you go.
