It's really not great quality, my lens is completely inappropriate for it so they are severely cropped (and from only 6mp to start with). I need a macro lens.
See what you think of it though...http://chrisharrison.smugmug.com/photos/244924228-O.jpg
If the weather is crap and you want to practice a bit of photography here is an idea for a winters day. You absolutely do not need a DSLR for this, I tried it with a Panasonic FZ20 about 2 years ago and the results were virtually the same (and it was safer as I could keep the camera further...
In this day and age? I don't think so really, there are now thousands of legit ways to use one heck of a lot of bandwith, Youtube, BBC iPlayer, downloadable content for games, online data storage, one day soon there will also be a mass-market way to rent movies online (iTunes). The weekly...
Any idea how the Maps app finds your position? Whilst everything else works fine in Maps (I love it actually, worth the £12.99 on it's own) it can never locate my position. I assume it uses Wifi, and I had a nice strong signal where I was but it wasn't playing ball.
The traffic thing is...
Just upgraded to the apps, pretty impressed with them actually, £12.99 seems hefty for something that is free for new buyers, but it's not a bad way to spend 13 quid. Never been too interested in Jailbreaking it, looking forward to the legit apps that should be hitting the Touch this Summer.
You lose a tiny bit of quality and AF speed, but not much to be honest. I use the 1.4x converter at the moment and can't tell the difference when I get back home between when I was using it and wasn't.
iPod Touch news is kick in the teeth for current owners, £12.99 for Mail, Stocks, Weather, Maps and Notes, however all new iPod Touch will be shipped with the functionality built in at no extra cost.
Also got a lovely 1.1.3 update which appears to add 165MB of largely useless functionality...
The slightly older 80-200 is waaaaay cheaper than that. If you can do without VR (it's not really needed with 200mm to be honest, the lens is so heavy that it's hard to shake around too much!), the standard 80-200 'D' version (which is fine on a D50, not so on a D40) can be had for around...
Do you not need a US billing address that matches the billing address on your card? A quick web search shows that plenty of people would like to do it but haven't been able to, so whilst you're not bothered it would be nice for the other 99.9% of UK iTunes users if we got some good video content.
and I just noticed this, full-res version of that last shot which has been heavily cropped (gone from 3MB down to just over 1MB), driver was doing 40-50mph and I used 175mm wide open at f2.8, the little sticker on his rollbar says "Passed by MSA Scrutineer, Speed Hill Climb Prescott Hill, 26th...
Why do you fancy a change? My D50 is on something like 60,000 cycles in 12 months and the only reason I'm gradually saving for a D300 is that eventually it's going to go pop. A D80 won't offer anything that's really going to improve your photography, it's a great camera but not worth the upgrade...
Seriously, iTunes is soooooo poor here compared to what they get in the US. An iPod Touch actually makes a certain amount of sense over there, but here all I can officially get is a few TV shows costing far more than the DVD equivalent and video Podcasts.
Re: Camera Lense group buy
He will need a bit more info than that tbh, do you want diagonal or circular? I will figure out which one you need if you let me know and approx what your budget is...?
Sounds good, I managed 22 events this year not including Cliosport stuff, aiming for 30 this year so I will be no doubt going all over the place. Give us a shout when the MMX Championship comes down to Asham Woods again as well, really really enjoyed that last year.
Fantastic job there, looks solid!
I will make sure I get my arse up to a Time Attack event this year and get some pics. You hoping to do every event? Looking at the list it will have to be Brands Hatch for me, that's the only circuit remotely "near", unless they do the demo at Castle Combe...
D40 and D40x get all the plaudits these days in terms of 'budget DSLRs' and seem to win every 'starter DSLR' group test, but to be honest I really wonder if they will actually be cheap cameras to own in the long run. The lack of an Auto-Focus motor is a pain in the arse, whilst Nikon/Sigma etc...
Not seen it mentioned here. I couldn't care less who 'wins', but the big argument from the HD-DVD crowd seems to be the whole p**n thing.
Not anymore...

Sexual like a lady (the car, obviously), hard work clicking on the pics though :)
Never wanted a Clio so badly after selling my Cup as I do now. Will wait till they hit the £8k mark I think then one will be mine (same spec but no air-con).
Exactly what I was thinking. Tried to justify it for a few minutes but realised I don't actually need one, money can go in my D300 fund instead.
It is cheap, mind!
I'm pretty sure the 'styling' is all practical, considering how little it weighs I can't imagine they have anything on it that doesn't need to be there.
