I'm intrigued as you said this about my fireworks pics (which to me looked 90% as I saw it), which ones in particular look 'off'? Also which WB settings would you suggest for long exposure night shots?
Most things are bathed in different types and colours of light due to the various different...
Hopefully tomorrow, about to watch football now and I'm still neglecting my Wii (Mario Galaxy needs to be played more!) not to mention my other half :)
I've taken precisely 3 RAW shots in my life, just can't see the point in it at this level to be honest. Whilst I'm still in the early stages of learning I prefer to try and get 99.9% correct in camera when I get the shot, shooting JPEG gives me far more room on my cards to experiment, and as I...
If you've got direct lighting bump the aperture to f16-f22 or more = sparkly lights...
Obviously you will need a much longer exposure to compensate, but that will give you more traffic trails and sky lighting anyway.
I could hit (properly calculated) 45-47mpg in the Cup if I really tried, so that seems about right for the same engine in a lighter car.
Interesting to see the difference the tape made, different wheels/tyres would have helped massively though. Polo Bluemotion gets huge mpg due to bodywork...
You missed my beast out on track mate, 1:10 iirc :) Was fully loaded with unsecured items (camera, helmet, lunch etc!) so it was a bit scary, but she went ok, bit quicker than I thought actually.
pmsl, legendary airfield moments part. 32 seeing that out on track. Especially when Tucks' lady companion was driving, she was absolutely loving it.
Quote of the day..."Turn the bloody radio down!" said Tucks as he went around the second corner.
There are only ones of you on 3 wheels or sideways ;) Unfortunately most were a bit blurry or crap, I will have another look tomorrow and see if any more are useable.
Another great day at the Airfield, fantastic turnout considering the early weather. Incident packed but nothing serious thankfully.
A bit on the foggy/wet/muddy side for any really nice sharp clean pics (plus it was very dark so a bit challenging on the old camera), so I went for something a...
About 7pm tomorrow :)
Going to get my head down and work through them now so hopefully I will have them sorted and ready to upload when I get back from work tomorrow.
Here is a little sample though...
Some pretty good efforts in there mate, light was absolutely horrific so it was never going to be an easy intro to DSLR stuff. Panning technique seems to be good, but a bright sunny day would have always given you much better shots.
Great stuff. I've worked through about 30 pics so far as I had a few minutes spare, just 500 to go! Probably won't appear till Tuesday as I'm in concrete cow land tomorrow and won't be back until late (and Mario Galaxy is waiting here for me to play, argh!).
It's not a good lens, it's one of the sharpest zoom lenses money can buy and a bit of a Nikon legend. I've got the slightly newer AF-S version (works with the D40) but the glass is the same, shame you are missing out on auto-focus as it's one of the most absurdly quick focusing lens going...
Only because they are familiar to us. I was taking pics of street signs in New York because they 'looked cool', only reason I wouldn't think to do it here is because I see them everyday, but if you get past that and do it you get some pretty cool shots.
I've never used one (even for long exposure night shots), usually find something to support my camera on, if not I get the Gorillapod out and use that. Managed without it in New York but needed it in Venice.
I think a tripod would ruin my photography instantly, I'm all for grabbing the...
Excellent shots, polarizer really makes those first few shots, looks excellent.
Keep working on that 50mm mate, the shots from that lens stand out a mile (in a good way!) as you clearly have a good eye for a shot anyway.
Yep, just look through the viewfinder and turn, it soon becomes obvious. It works great on water as well, if you go somewhere a bit tropical it's amazing as it makes an incredible difference on the sea.
I always struggle to explain how a polarizer has an effect on car shots. It's pretty obvious on sky (i.e. makes it darker) but the benefits in other areas are less clear.
As luck would have it I was flicking through my 197 shoot pics this evening and found two shots taken seconds apart with...
We wondered how long any orange peel comments would take to surface :) I was using a macro lens so it was magnified hugely.
Also, I know I've had a few PMs regarding these pics, my connection is sooooooo sloooooow that I can't even load them at the moment (took me about 4 minutes just to...
Day 6: 45kbps (and no, that's not a typo!)
Agonising, took me 4 minutes to reach this thread, I gave up trying to read my PMs after they still had not opened after 6 minutes, and the Media forum just laughs at me. They still refuse to respond to queries via the online help forms, so some very...
Just Jessops or an online camera store for filters, what camera do you have? There are different thread sizes you need to match with your camera and/or lens.
Just a nice car delivered to the Wiltshire area :) I want to improve and build up a portfolio so I just like the practice really (plus I love doing it) so there is no charge, to be honest I'm flattered when someone asks, that's enough for me! 50 'good' pics takes about 2 hours, I take about 250...
