The 18-200 is a good all round lens... but it just wouldn't produce the quality of the 10-20.
If you do go the 18-200 route i would either keep the 10-20 or get a nice prime lens, just so you have a quality lens in your bag.
I have the 18-200 + Sigma 30mm.... still not sure if the 18-200 is...
I am after a lens that will be mainly used for Equestrian Photography. Ideally with some zoom, but the overall range is not a huge issue.
I am getting it part funded so the total budget would be about £400.
My first port of call is the Sigma 50-150 F2.8 HSM as its quick and auto focuses...
LCD on D40 is same size as 400D and is probably one of the easiest screens to use! Has 2 display modes... one inc graphics showing you what the lens is doing and the other is all in figures.
With 250mm you ideally need some sort of VR or IS and I don't think the Tamron has that. If your after a long range try the Nikon 70-300VR.
You wont be losing much range (56-69)... or you could get the 55-200VR which is an excellent lens and can be had for under £120.
Tigger.... get one of these.... cheap as chips really!!

Cheaper if you shop around too!!
If you want to pay via paypal...
I can't fairly compare the 50mm to the 30mm as one was manual focus and one was auto focus. I would say the sigma shots are better and is more usable in low light.
Its far from cheap, about 3 times the amount of the 50, but i'm finding 30 is such a decent range!
Another way....
save the video using www.savetube.com or any youtube saving software.
open in 'super' which is free and converts pretty much anything and everything! http://www.erightsoft.com/SUPER.html
You can convert your downloaded youtube vid direct to MP3
I have B+W single coated filters on my lenses and have noticed no difference in quality so far... there not the cheapest, but not high on the expense list either! Plus they are brass, making threading them far harder!
