I was advertising this for sale... but have just been playing with the lens and its impressive in low light.... not the sharpest of shots... but f1.4 and shutter speed of 1/13 whilst being used hand held.....
And indoors at f2.8 and shutter of 0.033
You will need the Sigma 70-300 that states HSM, that way it will auto focus on the D60.

Also... here is a list of lenses that will all work on the D60:
Nikkor:
AF-S DX 12-24mm f/4.0G ED-IF
AF-S 14-24 mm f/2,8G...
Shutter count can be found using:
For shutter actuations you just need to get one photo from the camera and use this little program. Thanks to ukaskew for showing me this one!

After a small and light phone much like my old k610i. Was looking at the new SE G502 and it seems fairly compact and light.
Camera is not an issue, and dont need any fancy stuff. No Samsungs!
Any other recomendations out there?
Nice one! Just goes to show that mp is not everything! I printed of some pretty decent A2 prints from the D40!
Very impressed with that shot, shame that sort of glass is a bit off my budget!!
I was obviously in the way on there 'private track' this morning as they both felt the need to nearly swipe my mirror off as they went past me the other way on the wrong side of the white line!!!
Apart form both driving like t***s, the clio was a good few car lengths in front (its a twisty...
IS/VR/OS etc is for camera shake... it will help at night time but will never give a shot that you would get using a tripod!
Especially with longer shutter speeds, where the camera needs to be still for up to 30 seconds... IS is not going to help you in that situation!
Not true!!!
Sigma 30mm f1.4 Prime lens with HSM ;)
And sigma now do a 50mm Prime with HSM (bit pricey, but initial reviews are saying its quality is one of the best)
The Nikon 50mm is indeed manual focus, but still meters in all modes on the D40, many people prefer a bit of MF!!
Overall...
D40, other halfs sister has the sony and I found the D40 easier to use, better pics and in general better all round!
But its about what you prefer! Go try them both and decide from there!!!
Right.. fixed it... we have a tupid HP printer at work which has lots of software, one of which is HP monitor, this was refusing to shut down... got rid of the thing!
I can put it in standby but thats it... unless I hold down the power key for 10 seconds!
If I choose shut down or restart it does nothing...
Its running XP.
Any suggestions to aid a fix?!
I have been using my newly acquired flash for some low lighting shots, works very well.... just depends what you are taking pics off!!
Plus its great for indoors and bouncing!
Have a look at the Canon Ixus 80is too.
8mp, image stabilizer etc
