the power delivery is really good on the 197s anyway, mine is brilliant. I have not driven a remapped one but apparently there is no 5k kick at all its just really grunty through out the whole rev range, it does sort out the turbo lag effect from 2k below, but if your below 2k your not drivin it...

Great cars, i have an R27 but i test drove a standard 197 without the cup pack and still thought it was stiff and gripped well! It depends what you want, if you want to achieve its full performance and are considering trackdays then the cup suspension is a must tbh. But if you just looking for...

I used to have a 1.4 16v. Slammed it 60mm, powerflow back box, lightweight 16's and a viper kit (which was turd) and was really nippy in the end! Was the same in a straight line as my mates 1.6 16v and they are 110bhp.

loose the viper mate, thats your problem, they suck balls! Get an itg panel filter!

My old 1.4 16v clio was exactly the same is a vtr. Dont no what all the fuss is abouy with them, there rubbish. 1.6 clio any day! Loads of low down tourqe. vts's arnt particularly quick, bit nippy but wasnt bowled over when i drove one. clio FTW, new cams, chip, slammed and you will eat them...

The interior is much nicer to be in, you get a proper sports steering wheel not the crappy thin one. I use cruise all the time, my climate control. And oddly enough i use the auto lights and wipers all the time!! xenons are much better than standard. And as for the mirrors folding in for parking...

Just remember the cup doesnt have any creature comforts. If you dont mind then go for it. Or get a 2nd hand R27, or 197 with cup pack, to be honest there is not that much to choose from. Dont make the same mistake you did before just drive them for yourself matey.:)

That might of been why mate. also the 172 is well worn in and the 197 might not be. Mine feels like a different car now mine has 20k on the clock. Agreed with the factors side. My mate had a 182 and off the lights my R27 beat him. Its just the driver. Power wise there pretty equal, my R27 pulls...

You have prob been driving harder than you think. You only get good mpg if you are light in the throttle or on a motorway run. But the cars are to addictive to do that, so be prepared to spend most of your days at the petrol garage like me lol:rasp:

197s aint slow matey!:nono: My mate has a leon cupra R and to be honest its pretty even with us. Only 110- 120 is where his biggest adventage is over me.

I spotted a few, a couple of 182s as well. I was drivin another Ly R27. A 245mile round trip with 3 people and cases and only just peaked over half a tank, who says 197s a crap on fuel;)

Its just got i slighter wider/sportier design than standard. It does look wider tho, when i had mine it took me a while to notice that.

Well said. I think the whole fuel consumption debate is rubbish. I got no more miles out of my 182 than i do in my R27! I know the tank is 5 litres more but for the extra wieght etc, it does a good job. Find the power much more usable in normal road use as well with the shorter ratios.

I use my cruise all the time! Only use speed limiter occasionaly if im in a 30 zone and really dont wanna risk speedin, the type of zones you caould do 60 in and still feels slow lol!

I went from a 182 to a r27. I do alot of motorway miles and i am gettin 350 easily per tank! I got 380 last week! Mine has the old gearbox as well. Powerwise mine feels more powerful then the 182 and you do notice the 5k kick, its on 15k now and runs very nice and filled with vpower. I dont find...
