Orange dci went straight through its mot Wed morning. Its wanted for nothing apart from servicing this year, not done loads of miles though around 3k from memory.
Give them both a clean up and headlamps a little tickle with the d/a as going a bit yellow.
Tallying up the spends on the blue one...
Needs must the oil consumption and blue smoke was getting too bad  All back together and running good have done 70 miles in it up to now, no smoke from cold so id say its been a success. £180 in parts and 2 days work so not the worst. Id have rather just changed engine for good used, but...
Decent that @Daniel . Ive only drove a 197 with recaros before not had the pleasure of driving a povo yet. Cant be any worse than some of the heaps of shite ive drove in the past though
I could live with 50+ mpg so might have a look at the newer clios.
Blue clio back together.
Fired up first turn, did not need any sniff to get it going which was good. No blue smoke from cold so looks promising, engine sounds great even quieter than before.
Took it for a ten mile drive on some...
I usually use the 20" breaker to lever track control arms down, a bit oldskool i guess. Not sure what the expensive sets of pry bars are like, ive found that when ive used a cheaper one in the past they flex loads.
Lower control arm lever is class for this if your working off a 4 poster, i used...
I must be in the minority but i hardly ever use a pry bar unless im destroying something. However when i was a joiner i used to just bray the round end of the ruffneck crow bar if you needed a bit of poke, at less than 1/4 of the price of any of them.
I reckon thats failed due to the wrong nut fitted which has crushed into the mount when tightnened up. Oem usually have a massive washer under the nut to spread the load when torqued, but the problem is im sure its a different thread to the vibratechnics mount. I fitted a large heavy duty washer...
Been using my mates battery ratchet yesterday and absolutely need one. Ive been looking at the milwankee fuel long reach one but not sure if it will be too big for what i need. Says 383mm i assume thats full length without the batt.
Ill have a look and see if i can get in with the bar @Yorkshire Pudding (y)
What was the mk3 like on diesel @Adeyspec ? The mk4s we had at work were good for 50mpg from memory.
Cat needs to go but cant be fucked paying somebody to make a pipe up.
Keep it going for a few more miles while looking for a replacement @Adeyspec . Ive been looking for suitable diesels for work but a lot of scrap about for 2-3k at the moment.
Bores glaze busted. Pistons cleaned up, ring gap checked, clocked and fitted. 8 hours due to fuckabout half dropping subframe to remove sump:cautious:
Damage from previous piston to valve kiss
Big ends look good so straight back in
Head back on after boxing day.
A few strokes of this badboy and should be good to go
Im hope it f**king works as the Kangoo is the only thing thats legal at the moment and its had £250 worth of fuel in it over the last ten days
Xmas repairs to the blue dci.
Epic amounts of blue smoke/misfire from cold now. Ready to pull pistons out tomorrow, bores are nice and shiney, i guess that explains the epic oil usage. Evidence of previous inlet valve to piston clatter on cylinder 1&4, i had a feeling it had a head job...
Updates
Had the Kangoo in for a map tweak at EfiParts, as changed a few bits since last map, new clutch, new oem n75 valve, air filter etc.
The short story is - clutch basically failed straight after mapping earlier this year, it was slipping on the last power runs and once fixed with uprated...
Small update
Breather plate was leaking oil as the sealant had failed (as per most f4r) so took the opportunity to fit the correct meg 250 larger volume breather plate compared to the r26 one i fitted previously.
Its knacker tight to fit with turbo on but just managed to slide it in on an...
He was in the silver megane 225 on turinis, usually goes out for endurance sessions on track.
Im a bit gutted that i didn't make a trackday there this year, but should be fully prepared for next spring fingers crossed.
