Now the Veyron is out of the way, here is the slightly more down to earth stuff. Despite the French theme there aren't many French cars in these as everything I took was on the General Hill Climb Day (Saturday)
Transparent Lotus 340R...
Nice shots, almost looks pleasant out in those, shame it wasn't!
Some track action here: http://chrisharrison.smugmug.com/gallery/2909786
and the Veyron here: http://chrisharrison.smugmug.com/gallery/2906395
Yep it's the press car/demonstrator, it's had a hard life and looked pretty grubby today :) Good to see it in harsh reality though, not on a display stand with 10 bottles of tyre shine on the wheels etc. Apparently 25 have been sold in the UK now.
I've put a gallery up with a load of static...
Yep good to put a face to the name.
Shame about the weather, Saturday was really good, would have been nice for it to be like that on the day everybody shows up, could have got some nice shots of the cars in the Cliosport bit etc.
I didn't have a clue what was best as it's not like circuit racing at all. I ended up sticking with what I knew (1/125 panning), but if you want some nice safe shots of it use a fast shutter speed, works pretty well on the hill.
It was odd, I felt like I knew the car already despite never seeing one in my life, all the TV exposure kind of prepared me for it.
It bottomed out nicely on the hairpin, he was pushing it pretty hard later in the afternoon.
Had a fantastic day at Prescott today, just for now I thought I would share my Veyron pics, as I've never seen any of it out on track...
It was immense, despite having hardly any room to play with you could still sense the acceleration (especially off the line)...
Never heard that before, the 18-200s and 70-300s are very popular and both have a big zoom range.
Edit: Never mind, will speak soon if you ever get un-banned ;)
Chris ;)
I've no idea what you mean!
This is nearly at the widest setting (86mm)
...and this is at the telephoto end (300mm)
No warping. I think you might be thinking of super-wide angle shots, but warping only happens at 10mm or thereabouts (even wider than the kit lens)
Been replaced by the D40/D40X now, still a few kicking around but hard to find, final stock went for £299 a couple months ago.
D40 is £330 (D40X is £470) but they don't fully accept as many lens as the D50 does.
Top work, pleased with the choice? ;)
You clearly have an eye for a good composition (I love the lines in pic 2, draws your eye right into the picture), I hope the D50 serves you as well as it has for me so far.
1998 ;)
My first order was in 2000, Pitch Black and Starship Troopers on Region 1 DVD, £33.98 (it's still in my order history!) Back then they even refunded you the C&E duty if you ordered something over £18 and got stung...and they only sold DVDs :)
Bit different but I use...
http://www.smugmug.com/
£20 a year now (and once you sign up that fee is locked, I'm still paying the rate from 4 years ago), and you get unlimited storage and traffic. Loads of different upload tools and you can have public galleries, password protected...
Considering the size of the dealer network 66 doesn't seem bad going for a fairly niche market. 249 dealers in the UK isn't there? If each one on average sells 10 a year that is still a whole lot of Renaultsports.
Platinum Renault here in Wiltshire couldn't have been far behind judging by...
Nikon D50 (I was in a shop yesterday and I guy completely dismissed the D50 because it was 'only 6 megapixels', I could have screamed ;))
I use a Nikon 80-200mm 2.8 AF-S (second hand bargain of the century) and a Nikon TC-14 EII teleconverter, giving me a 110-280mm f4.
Finished editing the rest last night, pretty happy with them...
Evo on the brakes
I had a bit of a cough after this shot :)
Mini tripod from an Integra
Beast of a Skyline
And I wanted this shot all day, close up pan with car at 100mph+, nailed it a few times but these...
Acceleration on that thing was savage! Couldn't believe how quick it was. What's the deal with the Escort (Reyland), Jap engine or something? Just wondered as it was the only non-Jap car I seen all day.
