Got myself a 18-200 Sigma HSM OS, Dwarfs my poor little D40, but focuses really quickly and the manual focus ring is excellent compared to the 55-200VR.
Wanted to get a lens that i could take with me on my travels without having to change lenses. I know some people say that the whole point of...
Shout for the D40 here!! Tried both in the shop and much preferred the D40! Go try both and decide as on here you will get strong arguments for both and the outcome will probably be 50/50!
D40 lenses are not that bad depending on what you want to do with the camera! I had a 55-200 VR which cost £130, you can get the 70-300 for around 250-300 and a 18-200 for around 250 (ebay - hong kong!)
here are some pics of mine with D40 & 55-200...
Same camera inside, your paying for the bigger screen and thats about it! Much prefer the 70 (which I have alongside the D40). Very cheap on Amazon! Then get a 1gb sandisk sd gard, extrem II will be more than enough.

Upgrading my lens already as have been given the opportunity to get a longer zoom. This is a fantastic...
Nikon SB-400 seems to be one of the safest bets I think, can be tilted in 4 steps too.
£83 UK stock, £62 if I risk Hong Kong stock.
Still debating on whether to get one or not as I don't do much indoor shooting.
Its quite ideal when she sits on her post... nice plain background to work with!!
Gives me a chance to experiment! This one was
Exposure: 1/30)
Aperture: f/4
Focal Length: 55 mm
ISO was at 800 - but still came out pretty well.
Think I want to get an external flash... just need to save...
Lens was just under £130 from Camera King on Amazon... they have put it up slightly now...
But they have it here:

Sadly the day was overcast and I really should have changed the iso from 200... ah well... live and learn! Always next weekend!
