Day 4 Sunday, wake up to a fresh Adenau, first dusting of snow overnight, and hard frost -3deg at 9am. -3 cold start no bother at all.
Quick stop at the complex on the way back, Suns out but its mega cold, and track is closed due to ice.
Weather picks up through France to around 12deg mid day...
Walked some of the Steak off
Walk back to the Pistenklaus for more Bitburgers as it was getting a bit chilly;)
Day 3 (Sat), wake up fresh "Bit(burger) in the evening, Fit in the morning" nice weather 8deg. Reverse rally was on so watched that, spotted a R5gte
Nurburgring castle
Quick blast...
Epic road trip in the orange dci last weekend.
Day 1 Thursday
Started with brimming the tank with posh Vpower diesel in prep for the trip, range of 722 miles.
First stop in Kent for a nice airBnB we had booked right near the eurotunnel. s**t drive down in the rain, but nice place made up for...
Good shout, ill whip it off at the weekend and pop another o ring on. I struggled to get the fitting to move down the pipe when i had it off, might have to clean the pipe up a little bit.
Had a few hours on my Extra van engine.
I done a lot of measuring with the dti gauge, and wrote off the cam that was fitted as a bad grind. Took it out and launched it out the garage door, and fitted a cat cams 260 duration. After the recent carry on, checked the piston to valve clearance with...
Cheers mate :giggle:It drives epic now, i wish id pulled my finger out and got it sorted before the bad weather, but at least its good to go for the new year.
Orange dci has had some loving too.
First of all, the drivers door had a big bit of cracked filler on the edge due to previous repair years ago. Been looking for another door for ages, but as most of the pov spec clios are hammered now nothing had come up worth buying, and getting the door...
Quick update (not many pics been slacking sadly)
Blue dci has had a few repairs. Uch started clicking like mad, ignored it for a few weeks, until one day the wipers went off in the pissing down rain and lights went off at night. That was a bit much so sent it away to Tachosoft via ebay. rebuilt...
Just tape on both of mine, its double glazing tape. I cant recall the thickness off the top of my head, it was what i used to use 15 years ago when i made timber double glazed windows up. Sticks like s**t to a blanket, done the orange clio 4 years ago and its still all good.
Epic updates as usual mate (y)
I would swerve the Ns-2R, not a touch on the Yoko Ad08R. Wet grip is terrible on them, and dry not much better, they do nothing in the cold damp conditions, as i found out when the back end let go and sent me into the armco a couple of years ago.
Its been a while since last update, but things have been ticking over nicely in the background.
Blue megane was booked in for mapping last Sat at Efi Parts in Runcorn.
Good clean up on Fri afternoon as not been washed for ages, typically pissed down all day Sat. Brimmed with Tesco 99 and sat...
A lot of the sumps have a raised part internally where the sump plug thread is, you will never get all the oil out removing the sump plug
Prob get more out of an f4r with the suction pump due to this design (pic nicked from icemans thread)
15 pumps and let it do the magic, take filter off...
Ive used a good quality vac pump on all my cars for oil changes via dipstick hole for last 15 years. No more mess and it gets the lot out, as much as taking the plug out.
Took the sump off a gtt engine that i had changed the oil via dipstick for around 70k and no sludge buildup or nowt.
Leave the engine standard, quick enough to have fun and reliable.
Refresh the suspension if it needs it, get some decent brake pads and fluid in, 15” wheels with sticky rubber and get it used lots. Learn how to use it to its full capabilities on the corners before concentrating on more hp.
If the circlip has popped (sounds likely), fit a Renfort plate and fixed for good. Fit decent high tensile bolts instead of the stainless ones supplied.
