Xmas update
Blue dci had a mega oil leak just before xmas. Had a quick look a few weeks ago and there was oil all over the cambelt side of sump, all over the rear of the engine. The oil fumes in the cabin with heater on were not the best, and it was pissing oil all over my nice block paved...
I believe the clones can do it, but not tried myself. There is another box of tricks that can do it too, but by the time you buy the gear and a new key, its not far off getting a locksmith to do it.
I have a k9k head here off the 61 reg Kangoo ive just bought. The bottom end went, but head might be ok, from looking did not notice any bent valves. Its going cheap if you fancy pulling yours to bits to see if its salvageable?
Intercooler as stock too.
I can remember you saying that before, wonder why. They insure Teesside, which used to be the car crime capital of the uk at one point  Also says no Bm’s too
Mine are all insured separately. Multi car policys never seem to cover exactly what you want, avoid trade unless you have a business, as the value will be low on the car if you need to claim, then they might want vat receipts.
Most good insurers will mirror ncb onto other cars. Both the megs...
The cabasse speakers are alright, but most are past their best now and the foam outer is crumbling. Last about 5 mins before the cone starts rattling.
Bosh some half decent aftermarket speakers in.
Looks like the project might be starting sooner rather than later, just bought a meg r26 bottom end with a set of wossners and pec rods fitted, and a rebuilt 250cup pk gearbox.
If i pull my finger out, might make Cliosport festival😉
Cheers for the replys all, cant wait to get stuck in. If weather is alright over xmas, ill try and get the diseasel out for the scrap man.
Said to the mrs that the 250 cup would make a nice engine donor, did not go down well
9 windscreen is the same as 11. Ive had 3x 11 turbos back in the day and broke a few low spec for parts. 3 door turbo interior parts were stupidly hard to find 20 years ago in good nick. What does it need ? A lot of the mechanical parts are shared with the r5.
I reckon its one of the shortest proper vans available. Quite lardy at 1260ish kg, but still 100kg lighter than a meg. Once i ditch a few bits inside, and stick 300hp up front with lsd it should be alreet;)
Im going to get the manifold, exhaust housing and downpipe ceramic coated. Just looking at options at the moment. I had downpipe wrapped years ago, was alright until engine had been in and out a few times then it all fell off. Replaced with stuff that was not up to the job which smouldered and...
TDLR - im an idiot and keep buying scrap Renaults and a new project is in stock:LOL:
A few months ago in my old job i had a 68reg Kangoo, got it with delivery mileage brand new. Noted pretty crap in diesel form, and handling average however i had heard that the underpinnings were very similar...
A few bits done to the Extra engine today.
The parts quality is shocking for the C1j gtt engines now, had to die grind a channel in the waterpump casting so it would fit, shitty aftermarket parts. May ditch this for refurbed oem or new old stock if possible to find, will see how it goes.
Fitted...
Cheers mate(y) Hoping to have them all sorted for next year, and get some decent use out of them, instead of constant fixes or upgrades. Will see how it goes:LOL:
Hard to find a good mk2 dci with sensible miles on now. I viewed a flamer dci80 off facebook market place the other day for a mate, looked great in the pics but absolute scrap in reality, bonnet was so rotten inside the latch had almost fallen off!
Was a shame really as it only had 80k on the...
Check the small exciter wire is connected up to the alternator, as they can break resulting in no battery light/charge. if the wiring checks out ok, assume alternator is dead
Its a great place to go for a petrolhead, get a trip booked up for next year. Hell of a drive to Dover or Kent from Scotland, go via newcastle overnight ferry to Amsterdam, its class on a weekend in the nightclub on the ferry
Had a couple of hours spare on Monday, so made a little bit of progress, head on and torqued up. Slow progress is better than none i guess.
Treated myself to a new Aem X series afr gauge to replace my old innovate Lc-1.
