Cracking, might be hard to resist this @ its current price, much cheaper than anything wide currently on offer! Should wait for my 20mm to turn up first though, damn lack of supply! They are selling for more than new second hand at the moment!
What are you going to shoot, do you want to do motorsport or general pics of your mates on holiday/down the pub, do you ever use the zoom on your compact, would you miss it, do you want to learn modes (shutter speed, aperture, Manual etc.) & should it fit in your pocket?
4/3 system has a 2x crop, so a 200mm lens has a field of view equivalent to 400mm in full frame/35mm terms. So for reach, they are arguably better. Where the mirrorless micro 4/3 cameras fall down is AF but in the new models, it is surprisingly quick.
I've shot low light sport with my Canon and...
Great to hear ukaskew! where did you sell most of your kit in the end, eBay, forums?
Have to admit, its a little sad packing and shooting all the gear, lots of memories and I've accumulated a fair amount and still have a lens and body to find the boxes for and shoot. :(...
Update, what a dinky little camera! This is with a borrowed lens, still waiting on the 20 f/1.7 to come into stock, should have used eBay for a second hander!
I've just looked at all of my EXIF data, time to start boxing the DSLR gear for sale :(
10-22 was last used at a party in April then...
This! Would only use Kerso or a reputable UK shop, Warehouse Express, Jessops, SRS Microsystems etc.
Purchased 3 lenses from him and had some warranty work done on one with no hassle.
Tough to find an all rounder, lots of options:
A 'bridge' camera like something from the Panasonic TZ range or something like a Canon G11 which offers DSLR controls in a small size, quality is pretty good.
Mirror less interchangeable cameras offer small size and great quality but come with...
Don't rule out other systems, it depends how you think you might like to shoot. I've just taken delivery of a new Panasonic body, its dinky compared with its big brother and will get much much smaller when my new 'pankcake' lens arrives, borrowing a kit lens at the minute.
For someone that's...
Could be sun direction, focus or the the Olympus could be far more aggressive with its in camera sharpening. Only real way to compare would be posting RAW files with the same conversion.
A few members on here normally suggest one of the Panasonic TZ models..

The high ISO IQ does look superb on the new Cameras but convenience is the winner for me and Sony vs M43 on pancakes; its f/2.8 vs f/1.7 so less need for that High ISO with Panasonic anyway!
Ordered the GF3 yesterday and 20 f/1.7, size wins and the great thing is you can swap the lens between...
I've got a top end UV filter on my 17-55 f/2.8 IS but I tend to use it in situations that also involve alcohol and clumsy mates! Nothing on the other lenses except big hoods.
On a side note the fecking filter is on so tight I'm going to need a special tool should I ever want to take it off!
That looks perfect, only needs a fast pancake prime and it'd be amazing.
But MSRP $1199 = probably £1200 and for that reason I'm out, GF3 here I come!
p.s. that is one smart adapter!
Shame about the lack of pancake lenses. Sony have one of the smallest interchangeable lens cameras with the best sensor but no lenses to complete the small package.
On topic, my kits not changed in years, taken in 2008!
40D
10-22 Ef-S
17-55 f/2.8 IS
70-200 F4
430EX flash
Cokin filters, off...
The NEX 7 looks like it could be something quite special, not going to buy a camera until these announcements now!
What are the rumoured lenses, any pancake primes?
Thanks, this is tough, I'm a sucker for the latest tech and the Ep-3 + GF-3 both have really quick AF but one thing pushing me towards the EP-2 is the low light potential:
ISO 100-6400 + 20mm f/1.7 + In-body image stabilization (claimed to be effective for 4 stops of stabilization)
If the GF3...
Wish I didn't know that! Looks like all the eBay stores have purchased all the FD lenses and pushed up the prices, may have to look at other brands like brazo has done.
Now for the decisions, the GF3 is much cheaper than the Ep-3 and smaller, choice made but I'm baffled as to why I can get the...
Played with a GF-2 today and it does look like they've simplified it more in the GF-3 but I need to let go a little to get the fun back and get something thats more sociable and a bit more everyday. I did actually prefer it to the Pen due to being slightly smaller. Not keen on the new central...
Thanks! I think I'm actually in a position where I'll buy a new camera then decide the fate of the DSLR, ideally I can keep both.
I'm thinking I'll get the Panasonic GF-3 but now need to decide on a pancake lens! 14mm f/2.5 vs 20mm f/1.7, both 4/3 sytem(?!)
I'm a sucker for speed but the wide...
How does the Pen cope with shallow DoF and focus? I had a look through one of the mini Olympus cameras with a digital viewfinder and hated it. I'm so out of the gear loop, need to read some reviews.
Issue is, I LOVE the feel of my 40D + 17-55 f/2.8 IS, its solid, the AF is amazing, is great in...
I've been out the loop for a while now but wow they actually made it and with a built in TC, wtf! lucky for me I'm not a gear head anymore... honest :S
