Im on a £8500 budget, loads and loads of Cups around but not too often a full fat 172 (which Im after) crops up for that kind of money unless its pushing 60k miles or something.
One sat in Trowbridge Platinum Renault since Christmas, was the demo car and I often seen it out on the roads getting thrashed. Now finally for sale at Platinum Bath...(search 20 miles from BA133AH for "255" under Renault Clio to see it on AutoTrader, £26k)
I followed Kenty172s Cup for a few weeks whilst I figured out finances, get myself sorted and then after seemingly months on sell it bloody goes days before Im ready to give him a call, only a few miles down the road too.
So then a stunning 2002 Iceberg 172 crops up in Shaftesbury, 13k...
Ive found what appears to be a mint 2002 172 which Im going to look at on Saturday. 5 years of Clios (never owned anything else) and finally in a position to get one I really want.
Anyways, its done 13k in pretty much exactly 3 years. Am I right in thinking it needs servicing at 12k or two...
£120k?! Im sure I read in this months Evo that you can buy a Megane Trophy Racer for 99,00 euros and run it for a season on about the same amount again, which is about £135,000 overall. Surely the Clio season cant be that expensive, cant imagine the grids would be nearly as packed otherwise..?
Best to do all the research before you go to the Renault dealer, especially regarding RS models, very unusual to find a salesperson who knows his/her stuff on anything other than the standard Clios and Meganes etc. Not the way things should work but at least with ClioSport here all the info you...
Its growing on me, certainly potential for a nice Sport model, 3 doors, spoiler, redesigned grill, bigger wheels. I am really struggling with those rear lights, but saying that I didnt like the new Megane at first.
21 and £1500 on a Vee StusV6?! Ive been getting quotes including through confused and this is what I got...

Seriously considering some kind of cover over the new car, especially for the weeks where I know its not going to rain for quite some time. At least our cat sleeps under the car, got s bit of intelligence!
This is easy compared to the starlings that take up residence in nearby trees each year for a few weeks, think along the lines of 5000+ birds all dropping their breakfast and dinner over a small area and imagine the devastation. Its actually scary just walking out of the house during the morning...
Next door has a cat that likes sleeping on my sun roof, in the morning it slides down the windscreen, walks across the bonnet then jumps off, every single bloody night if its dry. I know this because he has darn messy paws and leaves a trail of muddy prints on his route! Currently got a Pearl...
Mint indeed, needed a magazine to read the other day so I bought Evo blind knowing something of interest would appear, not only do we get pages and pages of the 225 Trophy and the incredible Trophy race car, but a whole section on the V6, nice. Got to love Evo, serious Renaultsport whores...
Nice, Ive never seen it about actually and Im in Trowbridge 12hrs a day! Recognise the location though, thats got to be Platinum Renault on the Meridian Motor Park, been there myself once or twice to spend excessive amounts of money on servicing etc, still cant understand how they sell second...
Last Saturday in Saltford just outside Bristol I spotted what sounds like this car, that was five minutes after seeing a standard blue Extreme (old style with black bumpers) In Brislington with white stripes, looked bizarre...to put it nicely.
It was the Castle Combe Spring Action Day yesterday and easily the wettest on memory, rained solidly for the first 5 hours, making for a wonderfully wet track.
Any ClioSport members there? Quite a few Clios about, a Williams went out on the track a couple times (darn fast, never seen one...
Would love to see plenty of blue 172 Cups please, especially with any interesting subtle modifications (really like white turinis, this is a potential idea for me so that would be good). Im a step closer to getting one today and Im excited as hell, especially considering Ive driven various...
If I won £30k on the lottery I would buy one until I could no longer afford to run it. Absolutely without doubt the only car more expensive than a Megane 225 that I would ever buy.
Im quite odd when it comes to cars though, give me a million and I could promise you that I would never buy...
Wow thats Orange, I wondered why the Inferno Clio (which I had only seen Renault photos of) never looked much like the Inferno 225 (which I see in the flesh quite often), but now my question has been answered, it does!
Odd question but I would be very interested to see similar shots when its...
Is there any dead cert way of knowing if the stripes are original or aftermarket? Are they perfectly smooth with the surrounding paintwork?
The 54 plate Racing Blue Clio Im looking at has the same front as hoe261s (left stripe against the right hand side of the washer) but the rear stripe...
I was reading an article recently saying that low mileage cars often bring with them a false sense of security to buyers. Cars can get significant wear and tear from underuse, and apparently its often better to buy a car that has covered something more like an average yearly mileage. Then again...
Ive always wondered this too, always see about 4 Mini mags, an MG one, several Ford and VW ones and loads more, but never Renault. Really suprised there isnt demand for one to be honest.
Im glad this point finally cropped up as I was about to say Ive only ever seen (presumably loaded) middle-aged women driving Cooper S around these parts. Its them or Cooper Learner cars bloody everywhere, never seen a Mini being pushed and often pass them on the dual carriageway pottering along...
I meant Cruise Control is a non-issue, not Climate Control!
Anyways, I made a conscious effort to remember every function of my Clio I actually used today over 80 or so miles (it has pretty much everything), of the non-essential controls all I used was the CD control stalk.
I find the...
I wasnt talking about brand new, although it may have sounded that way when I said my local Renault dealership sells 182s for nearly £14k...but that was second-hand!
I think the Cup is for me then. My mrs has half-leather and Im really not a fan so that doesnt bother me in the slightest. Ive never had proper air-con before (just manual, as it appears the Cup has) so I wouldnt miss anything there. Climate control is a non-issue as virtually all my driving is...
Not worried about the half-leather as Im really not a fan of leather, or the climate and cruise control for that matter, rarely do any motorway driving.
Am I right in thinking the Cup is without Xenons and light washers? I cant think of anything else.
Im currently having a hard time deciding what Clio to get. Realistically I want to spend a maximum of £10k. In most parts of the country this would appear to get me a 182 with both cup packs (Im after Racing Blue with Competition Stripes) and up to around 15k miles, especially if discussions...
Unless my dealership loves wasting money this isnt true (I got a brochure yesterday offering me a brand new V6 for £27,100), I know it will probably end soon but Im darn sure you can still order them at the moment.
