You're obviously revving it too hard..
I used to get 400+ miles to £40 in mine. Regular driving. Nearer 450 on the motorways, and neither of those, was I driving particularly gently.
You've got a few options.
First WD40 and wire brush. Then try the socket again..
Next, heat with a blowtorch. Might work.
Last, angle grinder. Nothing argues.

Changing engine mounts is a doddle.
As Russ said, check the upper gearbox mount.
Mine had also come loose a couple of times. Tightened it up again, and it was fine!
LOL. Apart from the induction (which i'm still sort of keeping my eye out for) I'm running exactly the same setup with Kent PT51 cams. Hopefully make 140-145bhp. Who knows.
Oh, the noise! Quiet on idle, and whilst under low revs, and the raspiest thing i've ever heard, after 3k rpm!
Yeah, the gearboxes are made of butter, by all reports. I'd fit it myself, though, and they're pretty regularly available at between £70-£140 now.

Yeah, it's mad how cheap everything is for 106/Saxos. Plus, most of the people on the forum aren't the sharpest knives in the drawer, so there's always bargains to be had!
