    172 or 182?

I agree they look a touch better from the back but you can always put a recessed exhaust on the 172 for a good looking single pipe. I have one of each and after that I just wouldn't be bothered about which it was if I bought another. It's personal preference though.

    172 or 182?

Very little difference other than the option of cup packs on the 182. Just buy the nicest of either that you find. If you're going to modify it at all the suspension probably won't matter.

    The Chris Harris thread

Boring, doesn't really do it for me. The In N Out Burger interests me though, not had one for a few years.

    Well this sucks..... (Vacuums)

I wasn't impressed with my last Vax but some people quite like them. The company I work for have quite a few customer reviews on vacuum cleaners, might be worth checking it out for advice, http://ao.com/l/cylinder_vacuum_cleaners-numatic-henry--or--hetty/1-6-7/55-56-57-59/

    Drone coming from wheel...

Never had one done so I couldn't tell you but if it's rear the bearings are part of the brake discs. You're best doing both sides at once. If that's the case get @g 172 to price the parts up for you.

    Drone coming from wheel...

Cost will depend on whether it's front or rear, you could do with speaking with a few garages assuming you don't want to do it yourself. You can jack it up and spin individual wheels to see whether they're "grumbling" but it depends how far gone they are.

    Drone coming from wheel...

It does sound potentially like a bearing. Spacers do put more stress on assuming you're using standard offset wheels. It's a larger lever effect acting upon it in really simple terms. They are a wear and tear part though bearings so I'd not necessarily get rid of the spacers.

Flame Red 172's .... Many left?

It's a colour that looks distinctly average when the car's bodywork hasn't been looked after (says the one with Iceberg lol). Some of them in here look awesome I must add.

Renault 5 Gordini Turbo Mid Engine Barn Find

Very few details and can't fathom why someone's been putting holes in it. Poor ad really. Sure it'll fetch good money though and hopefully the next owner will look after it.

    Ever run 14 inchers?

Yeah, I ran 14" on the Saxo track car with R888's. Worked well, won't clear particularly big brakes though.

Who's come back to a renaultsport?

I'm back after a Focus ST. More out of necessity than choice but glad to be back in one.

When 1 Clio just isn't enough....

Thanks, they'll be looking nicer over the next few months. Good old paint correction and sorting the stripes on the 182 to make it mint, and some subtle mods to make the 172 look a little meaner . Why not have two anyway, twice the fun and twice the problems ;).

When 1 Clio just isn't enough....

Well I have a friend breaking his PH1 track car in Sunflower. I look to have got an RS Tuner from him (can't decide whether to go pops and bangs or 98 RON) and also the Whiteline rear ARB I fancied. Been an expensive but productive weekend!

When 1 Clio just isn't enough....

Yeah they certainly like their Renaults, they had 2 LY 197's in the other day plus a black one and a 133. I would have nipped in but Geoff at Chrley St has always been good and used him to do a few bits on my Focus over the years. His price is pretty good as well.

When 1 Clio just isn't enough....

Have you spoke to anyone local about the belts? Birchdown gave me a quote and RS Tuning didn't even bother calling me back. Going to use Chorley Street on mine as a test, I'll get the 182 done after that. I know he's had a 172 himself and has done a few so should be fine.

When 1 Clio just isn't enough....

My Focus ST did, £850 on a clutch, £350 for a new map, £350 induction kit, £1,200 for 8 pots (drew the line at these), the list was endless. Not chasing power on the Clio like I did with that. As I'm staying with standard dampers and going for lowering springs there's less to set up so I'll...

When 1 Clio just isn't enough....

Well although I said the suspension was next I found a couple of bits in the classifieds. I needed a new steering wheel as mine's far from great and, although a standard 197 wheel would be great, a 200 Gordini wheel came up not far away. Not knowing whether the wife would want it on her Gordini...

    Brembos and Pad Choices

Cheers, going to stick with 280's as I already have a set of discs. Leaves me the option to run 15" as well at a later date.

    197/200 Steering Wheel Question

Thanks for the help, ended up with a cruise airbag so I'll just ignore the buttons. I'll probably sign up to the V6 forum just to be sure. Just seems mad as the washer will likely be cheaper than signing up.
  28. tomhunt85

    Brembos and Pad Choices

Yes, the discs are standard and standard size, but almost brand new so I'll not swap them immediately. Although if the wife's 182 Cup's brakes are worn I may put mine on hers and replace them with the Brembo HC. Thanks for the link, I'll take a look.
