    Custom lettering on radio display??

I wasn't including construction of a box in my price or the Bluetooth implementation. I assumed bare PCB delivery. Adding in a box etc will add extra costs, so maybe closer to £40/50 build cost, so sell for £110ish. I still think £200 is a very high. Also not sure why your finding the ISO...

    Custom lettering on radio display??

When I said 'half way there', I was talking in terms of functionality, not cost. I have never said total cost of £8, I said £20 for the hardware. Again, I never said sell it for £20, I said sell it for £60 to £70. If you sell 100 at this price (assuming hardware costs are around £20), that's...

    Custom lettering on radio display??

Seriously? Did you see the kit posted above? hardware costs of £4 - that's for half the project minus the Bluetooth. IMO there is no way you could sell these at mass for £200 each with devices such as the Bluetooth EL327 and Torque costing less than £15. The number of potential buyers is already...

yes I knew that, but I wasn't aware the code was public...

    Custom lettering on radio display??

do you need to read all 8 at once though? Surely you can only display 1 at a time? OR is that for the BT implementation? interesting. I suppose you tried the single wire implementation on pin 1, CAN1 on pins 6/14 and CAN2 on 3/11? (I am assuming is wired as a SAE J1962?)

    Custom lettering on radio display??

That's a very interesting kit, they are using a standard USB enabled PIC MCU and loading the ELM327 code onto it; does that mean the ELM327 instruction set is publicly available then? Because that would mean you could implement everything from just 1 MCU. When I played around with it, I used a...

    Custom lettering on radio display??

As I understood it, the already built 327 Bluetooth devices only function in the slow mode due to the poor implementation. The 327 chip used in them is capable of high speed data transfer without errors. I have one of the cheap 327 BT devices, and even in the slow speed they are find for reading...

    Custom lettering on radio display??

Bluetooth?! for what use? I think I may have missed a major jump in the point of this project! I thought you were just displaying current readings on the existing screen cycling every few seconds? - edit: just read your long post at the top of this page, I now see you want to make it Bluetooth...

    Custom lettering on radio display??

You have to be kidding me?! An ELM327 chip is only £10. MCU + PCB + small parts will be no more than £10 (unless you have opted to use some stupidly powerful and unneeded MCU?!) development time is probably a couple of days to perfect, but split across multiple unit sales. Unless there's a part...

    Custom lettering on radio display??

FLOL where the heck did you pull that figure from?! Use pre-built cables (about £10) and RJ45 jacks. PCB & components £20. Sell them for £60 without cable, £70 with cable.

    Custom lettering on radio display??

you wont make any money by making it open source. If it was me (I also have my own company and make bespoke software/devices and have a BSc & MRes in Computing), I would be keeping I very closed source at least until the potential business value has dropped very low, then then I would only be...

Can a faulty dephaser unit cause engine damage?

that would make sense as the clattering sound, but not to why it starts for a bit if you let it rest. We really need that video :)

Can a faulty dephaser unit cause engine damage?

Tes have you got a video camera? Can you film it starting for the 1 second? With the camera facing the engine with bonnet open, so we can get a better idea of how it sounds?

Can a faulty dephaser unit cause engine damage?

Also please confirm the battery is fully charged and holding charge correctly.

Can a faulty dephaser unit cause engine damage?

head gasket failures are very rare. Do the injector test and compression test and let us know the outcome :)

What shall I do to the Kangoo?

why are you messing around with this van when you could have a Trophy?!!

What shall I do to the Kangoo?

tbh its a van, so I wouldn't be doing anything to it :) I would want good capacity + high mpg for a van, not an F4R.

    Birthday cake!

    1. Happy Birthday 2. nice effort from your mom, although the skills on the icing you far exceed the skills on the car. 3. where's your front number plate on your real car? 4. that is a pretty hot photo of yourself+car (shame about the bloodshot fogs)! I think its the mix of the pulled up socks...

What shall I do to the Kangoo?

any 97 to 99 ron fuel will be fine :) F4R engines do not stand to gain very much at all from a remap only. As others have said, a RS2+197 cams +remap would put you near 190/200bhp.

What shall I do to the Kangoo?

it means you have a 172 ECU, UCH and key decorder. the RS Tuner bit means the ECU has been mapped using fastchip.nl's RSTuner device. If it doesn't 'pop and bang', then its probably got the performance 98RON map, which helps boost low end performance a bit.
