Sarah doesnt mind the Trophy, purely as its a cheap shed that we both have fun driving about in.
On Saturday however, when we test drove the 200 (which i was considering spending 20 grand on). She proclaimed 'is that it?', 'ure too old for a clio' and 'you are mad'. Luckily for me, the test...
I cant imagine that a person who makes their living/pays the bills from selling tuning parts to members of forum would risk flogging a member a knackered car. Not exactly good business sense now is it?
Have a read of the build thread, the engine has been built from scratch iirc, as Fred says...
You driven one yet? Nice spec btw, although i think Nav would be a must having seen the dashboard - needs something to brighten it up a bit really.
This is what i found, after the 106 Gti's/Saxo Vts'/306 Rallye's and various 1*2's that i've owned previously, i was expecting great things of the...
Think ill probably have to drive another one at some point tbh, although my 1st thought wasnt 'omg i need to buy this, now' like it was with the Trophy :(
Well, a very interesting day today.
Got the specifics of my 'perfect 200' from richard1, ie Ultra Red normal 200, cup suspension, cup spoiler, black Speedlines, Recaros and carbon interior trim. Happy with the monthly payments, deposit, final payment, etc, so thought i had better drive one ...
lol. Doesnt look like it. To be honest, i see most of their ugly mugs every Tuesday anyway at 5-a-side (which you are more than welcome to attend) so Thursday as well is a bit much really ;)
Nah, Sarah's got a TT, 330 is mine as well ... bought it for when i sell the M3 in the summer. Blame the internet & a few beers lol.
Havent really got anything on the M3 you could have anyway really - its 100% standard
Think im just naturally drawn to Clio's really, ever since my 1st RB...
Traffic jam, front end hidden by other cars ;)
lol. Of course ... could do you a good deal on an M3/Clio combo ...
Possibly not, but i dont like the feeling of boost (just reminds me of a Tdi), or the Meganes rear end, worse than the front of the 200 imho :p
I can very much relate to this, which is half my problem i feel. It is very very easy to buy things for cars that are old, need a little tinkering/arent perfect condition. As you say, a few hundred quid here & there add up very quickly!! Off the top of my head i've spent about 2 grand on...
The Trendlines will have clio>Recaro bottom mounted subframe.
Any decent buckets will need side mounts, then side mount > floor subframes.
Then sliders in between the side mounts/floor subframes if needed.
Of for sure, i enjoyed doing donuts in the campsite last year in the 320d, so need to do the same in the M3 really
Trophy is standard again Dan - Recaro's, Turinis, the lot!
Alas, its too old for the work scheme, M3 only gets away with it because, well, its an M3 ;)
I'm a funny one...
lol. Nah, she's a primary school teacher, with no current interest in having any of her own for quite a while ...
Own the Trophy and a 330, so thats about £7k cash.
Have a loan for the M3, which is £300 a month.
Just re-insured/taxed the M3/Trophy at a cost of £1700 for 12 months. 200 would...
But i'd still need a 2nd car to have fun in ...
Also, & rather unfortunately, when assessing mortgage affordability, they are only interested in my monthly income/outgoings & subsequent affordability, not the worth of my assets, i.e. cars - they dont show up on Experian lol :(
By lowering my...
Sometimes in life you get to a point where your priorities change, you want a house, & your silly car buying/modifiying/tinkering habit starts to wane.
Running two cars is cool, but i'll be honest, id rather not be paying two lots of everything ... previously i just didnt care, but now, for the...
lol. Mine are just as daft really ...
182 Trophy: 194 g/km: £245
330ci auto: 230g/km: £260
e46 M3: 323 g/km: £260
M3 is positively good value for the level it pollutes ;)
Yup, they're lipped, so crud gathers on the inside & they rust from the inside out. You would have thought they'd learn from the rear arches on the e36, but no ... still, its not that hard to change, bolt on, bolt off iirc.
Luckily you experienced it before driving my shed then. Your 'moment' on the M3/M25 sliproad was similar to this iirc...
(nathanH driving like a Hero at Cadwell btw)
Thats the 2nd Trophy above, 1st one only did Snetterton & the 'ring ... sorry Luke
Also, i had a VTS, not a pauper spec VTR ;)
You must have had a really slow day at work btw. Epic read lol.
lol. Im surprised he's not on here tbh, every other ex-saxo/106/Gti6/Rallye owner is these days ...
Edit: He is on here: http://www.cliosport.net/forum/member.php?40752-CampDavid just never posts!
Ignore me. For some reason, i put together a load of ex-saxo owners on here talking about a chap called 'Pred', an R32, the saxperience forum & Predator ECU's all together in one post and ended up with completely the wrong conclusion. My bad ...
