Not 100%, been looking around POTN and I think the US is mid-september around the 20th, imagine the UK won't be far behind..
hmmmm 40D at x-mass vs 35L, this is such a bad hobby!
hmmmm never tried one but not a fan looking at the E system on paper. Ultrade wide comes at a considerable cost, infact 30D+10-22 is less than the 7-14mm on its own :S
does the quality glass make up for the smaller sensor?
The Sigma is probably best bang for the buck, the Canon is a little better with less distortion but much pricier, you can always correct afterwards...

Keep it around f/11 max or IQ begins to degrade.. it's also bit of a contrasty situation for the kit lens to cope with... be careful your not as minimum focusing distance...
On the Camera front, spend less on the body and more on the glass :D
The Canon or Nikon kit lenses arn't the best but...
Got this for £52 at a local camera store, holds my 350D + 70-200 F4L + 430EX flash with no issues and I happily let the sea wrap around the legs using my 350D + 10-22... it'll probably not take the abuse, although its 100x better than my old plastic jessops £30 jobby...
Your welcome, here's a trusted review site for good measures...

Whilst I'm at it, I buy my gear from 'kerso', he runs this eBay store but you get stuff cheaper if you contact him outside of eBay...
Not had the pleasure of any IS lenses on my Canon but I'd say its worth it if your shooting non-moving objects in low light situations yeah... it's also probably a newer revised design with better optics...
Posted on a recent discussion on the E systems on another forum..

To sum it up...
And here's a useful link to help you along...

1) if you have the space go for it, if you don't and don't want to print bigger than 6x4's you won't notice the difference.
2) shutters opens for longer to let in more light, file size won't affect this; so nope.

As said, its small body vs bigger. I'd say the D80 is slightly better build etc and would be placed above the 400D but below the 30D...
Congrats on the cam, now the harrrrd work begins :P
Took me 10 months to honestly say I could use the damn thing, even then I still get myself in situations where I have to over ride the camera and go fully Manual but I still screw up!
Here's some basic tutorials...
One long ass thread to read, not looked into more batteries myself yet... from what I gather there is one trusted 3rd party brand, others are likely to set fire on your charger...

haha yeah on a 2nd look that's insane! that body is worth more than my entire collection and hes got a sh*t load of overlap and unneeded lenses, must be a right hoarder
haha you found the POTN box thread, yet to do mine, not sure it'd add up to much though yet
for ne1 criticizing peoples choice of expenditure please tot up how much money you've spent modifying cars if you do.... ;)
sounds like a great price!
Rite, POTN is back up, 47 pages starting in 2005 of good comments, not sure I'd buy a body from him but lenses, have done and will in the future...

what car you want to slap a kit on, I wouldn't spend the cost of a 2.0 sport on a body kitting a 1.2-1.6, saying that I wouldn't kit a car in the 1st place, they all look shocking...
Goes by the name of 'kerso' on here http://photography-on-the.net/forum/index.php (temporarily down), I made a bank transfer to him for my 10-22. When its up again I'll get a link to his feedback thread, very trusted... I'm sure you can also just email him...
