if the volts are below a certain level, the immobiliser wont go off. You need to make sure you have really good/short jump leads and leave them connected for a while before cranking. Also (sounds obvious), make sure the supply car is running!

What type of metal is the front and rear jacking points made from on the 182? Will it rust like my Mk1 did after bending from being jacked up? Or is it galvanised now?
If your hearing a click, the solenoid should be working, so would have to suggest a flat battery. How did you diagnose the battery as 'fully charged'? If you used a volt meter, it could just be a floating charge. This could explain why it turned over after a drive.
