You're right, they dont feel especially quick, too smooth for their own good really. But it will pull from 1k rpm in 6th, & when you spend a lot of time in rush hour, on the M3, a lazy/torquey drive is more important than outright speed tbh.
And yeah, the 320d does the job very well, but i...
Oh yeah, it will be, when the Trophy gets part-ex'd for a house, ill buy an M3 as it still offers a very good blend of mile munching motorway ability/handling/speed, etc. But for the moment, whilst i can afford it, i feel that two cars are still the better option.
Colour wise, i like blue 3...
Basically i was going to sell the 320d & the Trophy, so test drove a few e46 M3's with a view to buying one. Now, here are the words that i never thought would exit my mouth.
Utter disappointment.
Nowhere near as raw as my old Z3M, quick, but no real feeling of speed, & certainly not as fun...
I've said this on the other forum, but meh:
1. Your tyres are not track orientated. The name 'RainSport' would suggest that they arent an awesome tyre when really hot on a trackday. Get some decent tyres.
2. You've changed all the suspension & not had it setup - for example, i changed the...
Looks ok. Although the Powerflow exhaust & tints would suggest its owned by a poor person, who probably hasnt maintained it properly. For that reason. Im out.
Quite an interesting review in Evo actually ... e92 M3 always wins the road tests as at 9/10 of effort it offers just that little bit more, but .... on long-term test, its the TT RS keys that are desired the most.
To be honest, having been out in a road test in one, i was very impressed.
The...
I've considered this on a number of occasions tbh, but my main concern was that nobody would pay the full price of the tools to borrow them, even if they will get a refund upon return. Its simply too much wonga i reckon.
In addition, as the owner of the tools, i would be concerned about how...
Mmmm, 4 pots ....
I bought some Tarox 6 Pots for my old saxo as it happened, but decided it might be slight overkill seeing as the Gti6 setup would lock the front wheels at 70mph :o
Tee hee :rasp:
Great thread btw, i do something similar on Pistonheads with their calculator.
For comparison, the Trophy has cost me just under £5500 exc. fuel since last September - thats including buying it, a 2 grand service, all modifications, tax & insurance ;)
Most fun hot hatch ever imho. Preferable even to the 205 gti.
Looks a very nice example, might i suggest Bilstein B8's/Faulkner 155lb -35mm springs, Raceland 4-2-1 manifold & induction kit, a SaxSport exhaust & Gti6 brakes if you ever do decide to play with it. Nothing more needed.
