Any advice on the whole 'buying the same product just rebranded' situation? Obviously none of us want to be buying the same stuff if it's no different with our hard earned £
I understand. It was a totally fair comment as I said. Not disputing you clearly know your stuff! I was just a bit taken aback is all 😂 .
I honestly love this section and detailing in general. Since changing cars it's why I've stuck with this forum. It's full of seriously helpful people...
I can also testify to this (not that you need me to 😂). Found a video and tried it next time I was cleaning the car. Was really impressive! Almost didnt need a drying towel
Well, I can only apologise. As I said, I was quoting another forum that I had read. This is what this section is all about, is it not?
I get where you are coming from but instead of saying how much you dislike a section, why not make it a better place?
Nobody knows everything as I think I've...
CarPro Perl - what ratios do you guys use for interior bits? I've got nearly a litre mixed up of 1:3 so hoping that will be good. Gave the whole interior a go with some interior shampoo from autoglym. Brought everything up nice and smells good. Just want to dress it all now :)
I consulted a bmw based forum on just this question. I got the following answer give or take:
BMW paint isnt necessarily hard. Some even argued it was soft. I guess that's a matter of opinion!
One thing that was mentioned was that it does have quite a thick clear coat which is very reassuring...
That was my hope after someone posted a pic of theirs tbh. It's a 'clean and shiny' branded one and I was under the impression theirs were Das just rebranded. Who knows 🤪
Cheers for the tips. I've only got a big one so larger panels first! The swirls arent that bad as it's only 4 years old but shes seen some car washes that's for sure! 🙃
Think I was just worried about anything flying onto the panel. I'll give the bonnet a go with megs ultimate compound and a nice calm pad and see how I go. Mondays job!
On the topic of machine polishing. How do you guys feel about polishing outside?
Not got access to the usual garage so it's the driveway. Obviously full decon first then just go for it? Still need to test pad and compound combo. Would it be wise to just prep the bonnet and try and achieve...
I dont know the specifics on this but surely this is allowed? You arent going near someone outside of your family home and it's on your land.
I for one will most likely be detailing the family fleet of cars 😂
Might pop on to amazon on Monday to try and get prime. Not convinced many things will be available shortly and dont want it to hinder the progress. If I cant get it, I'll just use SRP and then a good wax to seal it all in. Be nice to do a proper correction though as I've got the time
Quick question. With the supposed "lockdown" that might be approaching the UK, I am getting all my detailing gear in order as it sounds like we might all have a bit more spare time. Looking for a panel wipe to get rid of any existing wax / sealant as well as clearing the panel after polishing...
Woke up this morning to this. This is the result of bilt hamber snow foam, followed by EZ fallout remover, car pro reset shampoo and then that really cheap turtle wax spray on ceramic coating I bought a few months ago. Quite impressed for a quick go in the dark 🤪
I'm a bit fan of car pro stuff since getting their shampoo. It's a similar price to GTechniq stuff. Maybe I'll give that a whirl instead. Need 2 wheels returned and then theyll be perfect and I'll coat them.
Just washed my new one for the first time and wow. Love that feeling!
It's probably all in vein because the car is swirly anyway. But I just dont want any more lasting damage. I'd rather know that I'm not furthering the damage and then I can correct it.
Also a pretty great way to justify all the detailing stuff I've just bought 😈
Havent touched mine since I collected it. I asked the dealer not to clean it too (to not have it swirled anymore). Its freaking me out. need to clean it lol
TBH, a "normal" reply is exactly what I wanted. I like detailing but im definitely not a pro lol. Thanks for the advice. Did you use a fallout remover before?
A phrase that comes to mind is this: Better for devil you know.
As much as these arent hugely expensive cars, there can easily be quite major hidden costs. Stick with what you know is what I would do. Easier said than done. Good luck :)
My thought exactly. I would have been happy with just a reduction on the mag offer. The autoglym package was for sure a bonus. I was surprised that it's full sized too as I've been stuffed before with tiny sample bottles 🤪
Just a heads up guys. Got this free with a years subscription of Evo Magazine. Think it was £36 for a year too which is cheap. Didnt need it, but cant argue as I wanted the mags anyway
