Its a sesnor in the gearbox a new one or you might be lucky and save a few quid and its just a loose sensor/wires/bad connectio and a clean up/refitment fixes it.
the sensor on the top back of the box.
Most likly the computer easy thing get a multi meter on the wires of the unit see if your getting any volage if you are the the bulbs work when you swop its a new computer which arn't cheap.
problem1: exterior temp sensor is allways indicating 25-26c°, although its freezing outside.
Remove the cover and check the wires else its a new sensor get a multimeter and resiters to check if you want i put the resister temp gaueg output sesnor readings ages back. do a search if you...
£65 might sonds a lot but the cost of the computer and software make they realise its not that badly priced.
Think about it say half an hour work from unpackign the machine to packing it up then the machine is £5k. With no updated software.
Easy enough to chn age the ring straight swop it is.
I'd take the car to another garage to get the tracking done right. Many places regardless of equipemtn used cannot set it up right its not difficult just easy to lazy up at.
As said check APS fulid also check the top mounts arn't catching most likly they are then check and chnage the PAS fluid then check the lines the 172 return lines a bit smalle (fixed with the later 182 one but its expensive to retrograde fit but it your bleeding the fluid worth a thought).
It will work anyway if you only want the CAT for te MOT time whats the issue?
A good quality low resistance cat won't case any trouble and help the environment. However the GTT engine is pre cat anyway so what the issue as the MOT tester should check the engine and if you can prove the engine...
What exactly is happeneing if the red light do the dash doens't go out when you turn the key then its an imobiliser issue and usualy as you said its the pickupring/wiring at fault a new ones not to badly priced easy to chnage and no need for anything programming etc. Try your other key though...
That will be 1 mm leaft till the wear marker. the pads new are only 6mm full thickness and you shoulnd't use them all the way down to nothing hence the point of a wear marker. I woulnd't worry much.
Take it to a dealer the paint warently is for 10 years but you should have your car checked ever year by a dealershi[ in theory for the warently to still be in place.
There so many different springs used on the 1.2 it isn't realy an issue
The 1.4 and 1.5 and 1.6 had a supposed sports suspension but it doens't realy mean anything just springs are stiffer and dampers/arms are different but a lot was just for the weight as many 1.4/1.5/1.6 use the same stuff.
You should yep tell insurance since it not stock spec and greenstuff are called uprated.
There is some better advantages for greenstuff but not enough IMo to warent any use plus when they fade they fade instantly wheras stock give much slower which is better.
If your doing any miles I'd take the 175 Megan ever time.
Assuming you get 30mpg from the 197 (depending on driving style etc its possible on long drives so long as you don't do 100 etc) it will cost you about 14p a mile in fuel assuming £1.10 a liter the Megan dci will do about 45 so that...
Do the simple thing and easier and a working car you'll do better working at Tesco etc any paying for a fixed car then trying to do it yourself ok you might learn how to do stuff but buying and paying for a right car as such it much better an idea.
