Right... i have booked myself a hotel near this V6 im going to see on saturday.. as its a long drive :)
My question is - How reliable are the mk1 v6's - any horror stories!? just don't want another engine rebuild like my clio, or any other major bills!!
One im looking at is an 02, on...
Following on from my topic yesterday...
Im still having earthing problems with the clio - previously, it was the earthing wire above the gearbox, on top of the mount...
my question is... is it possible to get an earthing strap, and attach it to the engine, and bypass this earthing wire on...
aye.. i mean the mount is slightly off the gearbox... and the earthing wire connects to one of the bolts which sits on top of the gearbox... obviously the earth goes through the mount, so with that being lose, my immediate thoughts were that the earthing would not be as strong!
had this...
I have been having some earthing problems with the car again...
just had a look under the bonnet, and the gearbox mount seems to be loose! gulp, well caught, hense the jerky movements when on and off accelerator... just wondering, if the gearbox mount was slighty off the gearbox, would that...
on the mk1, are they 17 or 18 inch, real reason for asking as on some of the adverts i have seen some say 17, others say 18... just wanted to clear this up...???
Yeh colin, why you seen it?
Aye... i mean if its simply a case of the mk1 being "more of a handful" then ill still get one, as like many have said, its simply a case of knowing the limits of the car!
Hello all,
Im going to be buying a Mk1 Clio V6 in the next few weeks - once the hybrid has gone... so looks like ill be staying in the club..
Now i have heard some people turn to me, and say "no no no, go for the Mk2 version! much better"... now is this STRICTLY true? When it comes down to...
Just found a pre-reg clio trophy for £13,295...
would you go for it, or not......
im really really unsure what to do... im tempted by the "new car" "3 years warrenty" factor.... but not sure if there are any about cheaper than above?
what do you reckon?
where, other than renault can i get a new coolant tank from as mine is looking a bit tatty and could do with replacing - cos im a bit of a tart ;) lol...
well, good news is i have a spare one that can be exchanged/have recon'd which is out of the car at the mo, so wont have to tackle getting the old one out until it comes to fitting the new one...
im assuming if i take it to renault (my old one) they will order me one in, and ill simply hand...
Following my topic earlier...
Where is the best place to get an alternator from...?
Heard a lot of places charge a surcharge fee for one..
i.e. renault, GSF, EuroCarParts...
Basically im after good £££ for one.
looks like he better get on GSF car parts then lol ;)
for my own interest too, how much of a b**ch is an alternator to fit, as i had a look at mine and it seems there is a tight space under the bonnet where it may fit through... or is is a light out job?
he had a look, but couldn't see any wires hanging off? will go round and have a better look..
He had the alternator changed when the light was flickering on and off before, but it continued to flicker. Just its gone from flickering to being constantly on now, so i spose in a sense its more...
My mates battery light on his clio 16v was flickering for a while, on and off, almost to suggest a lose connection...
anyway, was out with him on friday night and it stayed on constantly? We drove another 16 miles, but no fading lights, no sign of a flat battery...
got home, and checked...
Ok need to source these bits and bobs asap
1. "Lock Tite" - thread/bearing sealant
2. "Instant Gasket" - Something that will seal a williams sump well.
3. Mobile 1 Oil in 10W40 / 15W40 for williams clio
I have tried halfords for the oil - they did 0W40 and 15W50.. and that was it for...
this is new to me...
i drive my clio to work everyday, doing a 42 mile round trip and i dont get any fuel allowance... are you trying to say that i could claim this back from the tax man, or alternatively ask for it from work?
