exactly, roy munson, you honestly think i believe renault are the most talented mechanics out there?!?!
its is all about the R is FRSH... as adtmits says to the majority it is what they want, to people from here, it will mean s**t... but thats how it is.
as stated above j3ned, if i wanted a cheap service i would go and have one... but for this type of car i need the service history for in 2 years time, im sure it will be worth while to the next buyer...
obviously brakes, and other major parts will be purchased elsewhere, but its a service...
cheers ant, some interesting comments there...
it is true, that they are by no means "the quickest cars" on the market, but i wouldn't say they were "underpowered" its more of a question of being "overweight" i think.
In my eyes, there is enough power there, but with some slight modiciation...
Was talking to work colleagues today as it came to my mind...
what will my mk1 v6 be worth in a couple of years?
reason i was thinking this is due to the mk2 being a bigger success in terms of marketing etc etc will the mk1 simply be "forgotten"...
Having just bought the car, i shouldn't...
137699, when the car was serviced at 6,000 miles it was £170ish... so i spose it does depend on the dealer...
so long as it stays around the £200 thats fine with me. Going to be ordering a full set of tyres, plus new brakes and pads in the next few thousand miles... then going to be getting...
£230 FOR THE SERVICE IN THE END...
all filters changed, oil change, new wipers, new batteries for my remote, full interior and exterior clean... very happy, car came back as i left it... overall impressed...
didn't think that was overly expensive either for a 12,000 service...?
nice one colin... you'll love it... mine comes back from its 12,004 miles service in 2 hours lol...
sounds mint mate, will have to get some pics up :D
my insurance is £1500 all in one jobby - fully comp my name, with sister as a named driver... im 21 with 3 years no claims ;)
Just booked my 12,000 on the V6 for tomorrow, booked it in at dover (kent)...
will let you know how it goes, ashford, and canterbury were booked up for two weeks, and dover were the next closest...
anything i should suggest to them when dropping it off? im assuming it is mainly fluids, and...
I know j3ned had a list up a while ago about paint codes, but i have looked at the door pillar codes and none of them make sense...
does anyone know the paint code for the mk1 v6 silver?
many thanks, chris.
he he he, good man... yeah i love it mate...
on my way to work, normally going along there about 8:15... come back at 6, so back home at 6:30... ill take you out some time :D
im thinking of maybe using chips away to sort out a fresh stone chip on the v6 (2 days after picking it up )
i have seen some pics before of a silver 172/cup which had work carried out, and it looked spot on...
has anyone used them, and if so, do you rate them...
i have heard horrors...
I have seen somone post up some work carried out by chips away on a silver 172? whose was it, as it looked ace....
anyway, after just 2 days of V6 ownership i have a pea size chip in my bonnet! b****cks...
has anyone used chips away before, and if so what are they like? smokey has told me he...
cheers john, i know its a simple answer, but i was just wondering if there was more to it than "the manual"... as i want to keep it tip top, and if there is a way to ensure this, bar the servicing guide, then i would do it.
My car is currently on 11,200 miles 02 Reg Mk1 V6.
It was serviced (stamped) by renault at 6000 miles.
Correct me if im wrong are the service intervals every 12,000 miles, and is it wise during that time to have an oil change i.e. every 6,000 miles.
Thanks in advance.
Any other key...
as said above saner, the V6's wing mirrors dont come off the body work, where as the 172's do...
basically on the v6, the bodywork extends outwards, where as the wing mirrors stay in line with the window on the door, if that makes sense?
basically gaz, if you measure the total width of your two wing mirrors on your 172, this is the difference in width between teh 172 and the V6, when looking at the total widths on renault it comes out as 24cm wider...
this is 172 specs
Overall Width (Including Door Mirrors)
1670
compared to V6...
Overall Width
(Including Door Mirrors) 1911
so 24 cm's - not as much as i thought, but the ledge makes it wider (in terms of getting out of the car) and also the doors are bigger...
Gaz, i reckon you would need an extra 1 metre on top of the 172... reason i say this is because getting out can be a bit awkward as you have the "ledge" as it were as you step out the door, so need to open the door up wider.
cheers everyone, especially to those who have followed my "car history".
I will get some pics up asap, i have been driving it too much, and its filthy... i have already put some crystal side repeaters on, silver visions are going on tonight, then mk2 rear lights at the end of the week ;) will...
will post pics tomorrow, is filthy, so will give it a good clean. Yeah i did smokey :) I drove nice and steady, so smooth to drive coming from a hybrid. Love it to bits, and amount of looks you get is unreal.
Will look forward to getting those light ;) cheers mate :D
