Injectors?? Mine had a failing injector that caused a really low, rough idle. Ok at temp and speed but really lumpy at traffic lights. Could it be the be vac leak is allowing more air into the mix and compensating for a lack fuel... Just a thought, probably something completely different!

Sounds like my symptoms when I had a failing injector. Had a misfire which was remedied with a new injector but the idle was dog rough still. It would feel like it was stalling at traffic stops but wouldn't actually stall. It wasn't tdc, map or coolant sensor as none of those made any difference...

The top of the gear lever shaft is splined. Molegrips done up very tight and twist, lots. The splines will destroy the plastic and it should pop off.

Most parts are the same. Interior wise the cups are a bit different ie more basic. No half leather seats or alacantra door cards. No aircon or climate control either. Cups originally came with lower profile tyres as well 45 rather than 50's on the 172.

It clearly says camshaft sensor signal. I would hazard a guess at camshaft sensor. How come your mechanic hasn't recommended that??
