If its from Lookers in the Manchester area...tread carefully.
I bought my Cup from the one in Stockport, and I'll never go to that one or the one in Altrincham again...ever!!!!
Just my ten penneth! :quiet:
Great pics Ste...just try not to bring half the meet home with you next time! pmsl!
Thanks to all who came and made it a great meet, sorry couldn't do Nando's (still pissed about that!) but all in all a good meet with some good people, shame about the hilter in race control! :dead:
Don't get a 172Cup...as the insurance will nail you for the learner. My other half couldn't get insured on the Cup because she only had a provisional license, all is fine now she's passed, but the 172 will only be silly when its being 'used'! General usage it will be fine. :)
Has anyone used it?
I've got the Cup, and Mandy's looking at a 1.2...on Multicar with Admiral we've been quoted £970...whereas I'm with LV (33 5yrs NCB) and they want £650 and Mandy has priced up for herself with Swinton £500 (37, no NCB) does anyone else think that this isn't bad?
The washer jets leaking is a common fault with them. They cost about £10 each from Renault direct. I've not replaced them as my car doesn't come with the hoses, but it should be reasonably simple...sure someone else can confirm. :)
Contisport Contacts, the firmer sidewalls are much better and more confidence inspiring than cheaper tyres!
I've also tried P-Zero Neros and the Contis blew them out of the water on my Cup!
Mine also makes this noise, but the rack itself looks fine. When I changed the front pads a wee while ago, the noise stopped for a few days, then came back, but it only happens when trying to maneouvre at v.low speeds. (There's no noise at all over 5mph!)
Driving 'Your Mum's' 172 as an additional driver, but you are the main driver.
They'd suss if your 40 or 50 Year old parent suddenly wanted tinted windows, lowering kit, etc...they ain't stupid!
They're about £25 per side IIRC. Got mine from local motor factors. Then you just need to get them pressed in...any garage should be able to do that for you.
I would assume that it is in the same place for the PH1 as it is for the PH2.
This is where it is on PH2, so look in the same place (its the same engine, just cable throttle on PH1 and fly by wire throttle on PH2.

Re: privelege car insurance are s**te.
Aren't the 15" and 16" alloys exactly the same on 172s and normal cars? If so, they are standard Renault items are they not (if they're specified as an option at time of ordering car?)
Follow this, you may just need to clean the TDC sensor rather than replace it.

Re: strating problems
Remove the airbox, then look in the space, its on the left, just above the gearbox. See the thread below for pictures. I've had the same thing, I did what this thread suggested, cleaned it up, its had a couple of little 'hiccups' since, but much better overall. You don't...
