Re: Trophy #433
Cheers! Nah, neighbours havent moaned yet (give it time though lol), although my work colleagues asked me why i hadnt picked up my new car - didnt even notice the difference. Mind you, you'd need hawkeyes to notice the different wheels/lack of splitter, unless you're a clio...
I've owned 2 x Trophies, a 182 cup & a 172 Cup.
I've also owned a 306 Rallye.
The Rallye had better steering/gearbox/mid-range punch, but drank fuel.
The clio was quicker off the line, as the 306's 1st gear is very long.
I only buy clios now as the 306's are simply too old/unreliable :)
Re: Trophy #433
And then there was two ;)
First impressions are very good, & it drives pretty much exactly the same as the other one. Couple of minor issues, ie some of the dash lights are broken (inc. the dimmer), the wing mirrors vibrate like mad & it stinks of cigarette smoke...
Re: T5MY G's saxo vtr - Recaro pole positions/b8's/carbon/saxsport/stripped!
Steelies are v. light & look nice, but for track work they dont let the heat out very well ... hence why i didnt use them :) Just in case you werent aware ...
Had a 182, did 19k in 4 months, bought a 206 hdi.
Mileage dropped a bit, bought a 172 cup, made redundant so bought a 328i Sport.
Got new job & upgraded to a Golf Gti Ed30. Hated it so bought a 182 Trophy.
Now doing miles again, so buying a derv, but keeping a Trophy.
For the money...
Great exhaust, i have the Ultra silenced inc. cat & its perfectly fine for day to day.
Not much louder than standard on the motorway, but with a nice roar when driving hard.
90 decibels at Snetterton noise testing iirc.
Update from another chap on the Trophy forum:
The Trophy does have different back springs to a normal 182/cup. The back springs are marked with two small squares of colour, I think this is how they are usually identified. The colour's if I recall are a red mark and a white one!
A pair of...
Better do! Im not staying at work until 9pm lol ...
Oh, and so i dont have to drive all the way home afterwards, would anyone mind me kipping on their floor/in the garage, etc :)
Re: Trophy #433
I'm just hugely impressed with it generally tbh, fantastic car straight out the box!! Just needs a little more stiffness at the rear on track, so that you can bring the back end into play a little more .... hence the need for adjustable Koni's on the next one.
Ha ha, she...
Re: Trophy #433
Just found some more pics of both my rainy hour at the 'ring & the day at Snetterton :D
Bit wet
R26 thing, nice handling, but they all sounded like dervs. Do not want.
An Integra (on R888's), about to be overtaken ;)
Having just gone flying past a GTR...
Re: Trophy #433
Why thank you lol
Re: the 15's, you're right i did buy some Pro Race 1.2's that i was supposed to use on track, but in the end i thought it would be a better idea to kill the front two PE2's on the Turini's as they were only on 2mm .... have some replacements on the...
Tuesday is now booked at Staines Leisure Centre.
9pm-10pm as previously.
I had wanted to do earlier (as i now commute in everyday & this means hanging around for hours) but they didnt have any space, so we may have to look into another location moving forwards.

Re: Trophy #433
Oh yus :approve: Blooming brilliant day out btw, the Trophy is a very very good car straight out of the box, only problem was understeer on the tightest corners, but hey on normal (& melted PE2's) its not really surprising lol ...
Done 4k in the past month...
