old ones didnt have locktight, and haynes manual didnt say nout bout it, so didnt use any. Also yeah 3/8ths, not 3/4th! stupid laptop! lol. So you think they'll be tight enougth to stay in then? im only worryed about them falling out and going into flywheel, then thru bell housing lol.
3K! thats MAD!! im 19, got 2 years no claims, an have 0 points. quote for a 1.4 was £390. that was with "Quote Me Happy" Norwich Union.....Id love to know how much you earn to be able to blow 3K on insurance!
When i put the clutch back on my flywheel, i did the bolts up as tight as i could using a 3/4 size wrachet handle. im not sure there fully up to the required torque...do you think they'll fall out? or will i be ok? iv driven it about 3 miles and its been ok so far (feels ok to on the pedel)...
it might not relate...but i had this prob on my 1.2/ it turned out to be the mixture senser on the throttle body (air flow one, cant remember the name, MAT sensor?) anywayz, it was just a dirty joint on the sensor. it made engine's idle speed slowly increase to almost 3000rpm (over 5 to 10 mins)....
maybe thats because his is a '1.3' and yours is a '1.2'. the 1.2's are only 1149cc (not even 1200), i think the ford fessa 1.3 has a 1340cc....cant really compair these 2 really.
i did that to mine...adds bhp for sure, and makes exhaust sound louder/lower....well worth doing.
//btw i didnt smash mine, it broke by itself...never smash them, they're expensive!
i just did my 1.2 clio 1997, mine lined up 100%. i found it best to put engin in bay, put right mount on, then left/gearbox mount. then do the bottom mount last.
do this test....start car, open your door and put your head so you cn see under the car, then rev engine with spare hand. if you hear a rattling noise from cat, then its gone. mine went about 3 months before mot, but it still passed, as the main honeycomb section of the cat was still in there...
ok so iv bought my cam belt....now how do i put it on?
i know basic stuff... Top dead on piston 1 n stuff. all i need to know is how to tension the belt; im not propaired to pay £200 for a cheap seally tension tool really. my nearest renault is 24 miles, so belt would hae to last that long. any...
all the pipes get hot, and rad fan does come on when needed. it all seems to be working now, fingers crossed....
Iv traced the noise to the water pump...anyone else got whistling noises from theirs? should i change it? when i had a look at one in the shop i didnt see much that could go wrong...
also forgot to say//
the new engine has done 44K already. No sure if the cam belts been changed (but im going to change it asap anyway). and iv already put a induction kit on it.
