lol. its not a con, it changes the gas into safer/cleaner gases by providing a catalist for the gas's to bond. without them we would have alot more smog again...
what age is your car? the cat might look a bit diff, as its 3rd party, not renualt. i bought one for my 1.2 1997 clio, and it fitted 100%. plus they come with 2 years cover...i forgot to say, this company sells on ebay to, with about 20% knock off....
if you dont want to spend any money, the easyest/cheapest thing to do is;
take your cat off, knock the insides out with hammer and screw driver, then block up second sensor hole with a bolt and heat past, and put the cat back on. tie up second sensor (or you can disconnect it all together, but...
^^^^ lol. are you sure its not your clutch? it might be slipping at high rev's, this means the clutch cover (the part with the pressure springs) is worn. you can either; 1. get ne clutch, 2. hammer the springs so create more pressure.

why cant he put the de-cat on???? just because it has 2 sensors means s**t! all that does is take a reading from before the cat, and one after, and sees if the polution difference is acceptible....all you have to do is tie the second sensor up under the car!!
that dosnt sound like head gasket.....3 reason why, 1. your not loosing water, 2. your temps not steaming, 3. no trace's of oil in the water.....

does it turn over and the spark plugs click, or just a click sound when you turn the key?
getting new plus wont help if it flooded, just let it stant, or even better, take the plugs out, heat the tip with a flame, so it drys them out then put them back in....
also the ecu dosnt shut the clio...
