So went and swapped the Mazda after a grand total of 2 WEEKS for this...
Its a Clio 197 Cup and heres what the showroom had to say about it....
2008/08 RENAULT CLIO 197 CUP EDITION IN BRIGHT GLACIER WHITE, VERY SOUGHT AFTER COLOUR
COVERING ONLY 23K MILES WITH FULL SERVICE HISTORY, THIS CAR...
So, sold my Corsa and the 182 that I never used and I've bought this:
http://www.revitupuk.com/car.php?id=632
Absolutely fallen in love with it and can't wait to pick it up!
Think I'll put a full stainless system on it, new induction system (if any benefit over a panel), black vinyl roof...
So, Just about to go outside to fit the sender to my oil gauge, which is inside a tapered sump plug.
I changed the oil and filter around a month or 2 ago.
Is it worth emptying it all out and fitting the new plug...then putting the oil all back in.
Or should I do a full oil and filter change...
With this in mind I was thinking of an Evo VI before buying the clio, but I decided I wanted a car that was alot of fun to drive and I could really dive into the engine work. Hence tuning the clio.
When I said about ITB's and standalone I'm talking fully tuned internals too. So 250 on those possible?
The diff for my Corsa was £800?! So we're talking £1600ish for a diff?
My budget pretty much depends on how long I keep the car, I can start off with around a £5k lump. So was looking at...
Ahhh hummm...
So what diff do people mainly use? I have a Quaiffe on the Corsa and really rate that, do they make one for the 182 & is it any good?
What kind of power am I looking at from fully Tuning using standalone an ITB's?
It was the CSCC Tin Tops
The only variation I was going to do on that was brakes first tbh, but other than that, I had the same ideas tbh :)
I've heard alot of people saying leave the power, but I just WANT to do it really, rather than need to do it :)
Ok, so we've had the discussion about turning my 182 into a race car, and it came to the conclusion that it was either make a track day car, or down class into say Class C racing.
I spoke to my mate about this, who I was going to race with, and he was adamant he wanted to race in Class A an...
Well as I've said, this is all new to me about the extent of the Hondas. So all this is good advice....
Any other competitive cars apart from a 106gti or Saxo? considering the advice about the Zetec-S
Yes I have done quite a few in my other cars, and friends cars.
I've also raced Karts as a youngster and starting racing auto grass with a friend, until I broke my ankle and couldn't race the rest of the season. Hence, we want to do some proper racing, and we are going together for this series...
Tbf, I didn't mean to sound as arsey as that came across. So apologies for this.
I see what you mean now, as I thought you meant £50k doing it either yourself OR someone else. Not just with someone else doing it.
I'm torn now, as I have the 182 with a view to race, but I could create a...
I was listening to you until you said £50k to prep a clip to race in the CSCC TT's!
It is a small budget, but not too small, Not by that amount!
The mech work will be done by me and a friend, but ECU work will be done by a tuner. As we don't have enough knowledge to do this.
Ahh right sorry. I'll give you some more details.
Well as there's two of us, let's say £10k race prep money.
But then say there's one of us and £6k race prep money.
So if I was to build two cars with two different budgets.
Yeah chip I think your correct, aslong as you don't affect the...
Yes I have raced before, and why go in the 1.6 class?
The integras and civics are heavy cars compared to a clio.
I'm wanting to challenge the traditions of the Hondas coming out on top.
I wouldn't worry about budget ATM, as there's two of us, and with obviously devoting this season to race prep, we have alot more money than if we were racing aswell between us.
When you say hard to get, how would I go about it. Poly carb windows obviously, cage, bucket, half dash. Would there...
This is the thing with standalone....im not sure I'd be allowed it!
The regs are standard engine 'box and induction system. But that's all it says, so I'm stuck really :-/
Without standalone, is 220 feasible? And anyone who's managed it, do you have a parts list? Or a place to start looking...
