Like a total d*ck head I snapped one of the MLR bonnet pins tightening it too much so have ordered a new set that should be here tomorrow. This will leave me with one spare which I am going to try and use on the front of the bumper behind the number plate I hope.
I hope so but I doubt it as it usually mega busy offshore too! I am hoping things settle down both onshore and offshore this summer so I can chill out a little and do some more enjoyable things.
It runs like sh*t at tick over which I suspect is either the balancing or getting the idle stop...
Also changed a few hundred liters of the aquarium tonight too. I certainly enjoy my sleep at the end of the day! I need to do some more work tomorrow on the car just to make sure its fit to drive up to Aberdeen as I am going offshore for two weeks on Wednesday.
No work on the car today! I am cream crackered after a days grafting on the land!
And just incase anyone wondered how you put up fencing here are some photos:
And there is the Clio watching!
And there is still half days work tomorrow to finish it off! :(
Both money and time seem to be my limiting factors. I still have loads to swap over from the silver car to this and strip this one out but tomorrow I am fencing all day and have chicks hatching plus need to do all my normal jobs with the chickens, horses & goats! I will be sure to take some...
And then I only went and drove it home!!!
And then took the bumper off as I wasn't happy with how it was sitting and realised I had left a screw out from the headlight. The Aerocatches make it easy to do but don't want to do it too many times as I can see the clips that hold it into the wing...
That's a good idea. I thought about that with the silver one but it wouldn't have worked as there was already a cut out. I totally forgot about that option this time around. Hopefully I haven't cut it too wide or too tall to fit one. I was thinking about motorcycle screen trim but the 182 trim...
Front bumper with the grill cut down. Had no file or saw at the time so pretty much melted it off with a grinder. I just want to get the thing running and will worry about the finer touches at a later date!
@Ph1 Tom this is the bumper fully cut and as you can see it's all shifter a little so the gap is bigger on one side than the other. Do I care? NOPE!
Check out the bumper scuffs!
Right then. Slowly getting there.
I went to put the MAD wheel spacers on and the stud conversion only to realise that the hikes in the spacers aren't big enough to get the studs through. Not to worry as I just drilled them out and got them fitted. I also noticed the spacers diameter is actually...
The PMS has to be cut but it's very hard to get it spot on. I decided to take the bumper off this time and fit the exhaust first which isn't that great alignment as it doesn't seem to exit the rear of the car perpendicular to the rear of the car (not straight). Then when marking the bumper it...
I have fitted my front bumper with just two Aerocatches, one at either side. It seems secure but it sags down slightly in the middle and the gap under the headlight is obvious to me. I have no slam panel due to ITB's so was wondering if anyone had any ideas how to mount it more securely.
The...
Shame as you have obviously put a lot of work into it and the Ph1 does look better than a Ph2 IMO.
Obviously not worth welding new sills in or you would have done that I guess.
As I am not running fog lights or inner arch linings I decided to relocate the horns. One went into the pile of spare parts as did the bracket and one horn just screwed straight into the original mounting hole.
nice solution. i have had to de-skin mine for the longer trumpets but its just a rough trail. I would look at a CM Composite bonnet when I can get hold of one.
It's a classic case of less is more. It is bound to cost a little more than standard as it will be more labour to cut down from the standard size. I'm just being tight!
I got a Polo radiator and measured up to find a 14" fan fits. I paid a little extra and went for the 120 watt version over the 80 watt as it only ended up being £23:
